Overview & Reviews
For 2003, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has received refinements that improve its ride and handling. The suspension features reduced pressure shocks and the brake master cylinder output has been increased to improve brake pedal feel. There are also new brake calipers and a revised steering gear torsion bar. Available trims have been narrowed from five to three; the Sport and Special Edition trims have been discontinued. Standard on 2003 Laredo models is a new high-back cloth seat. Finally, in all Jeep Grand Cherokee interiors, a new cubby bin for holding sunglasses or cellular phones has been added to the instrument panel, replacing the ashtray.
- Powerful 4.7-liter V8, all-terrain capability, roomy comfort for four.
- Noisy and unrefined, questionable reliability.

A True Luxury Vehicle - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Mshell1234 - July 16 - 2:00 amThe interior of the Overland is incredibly comfortable and upscale. I have compared my Jeep to my friends expensive SUVs (Suburban, Range Rover, Hummer H3) and I think my Jeep wins hands down. Leather/Suede seats, wood grain steering wheel, perfectly placed items abound. I am ecstatic about my third Jeep...I cant imagine driving anything else.

Fantastic Vehicle - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By schick1222 - June 11 - 10:00 amThe vehicle has refinement where other SUVs dont. I hear some people say that other SUVs in its class have a better ride. The only thing that can be said to this is, when you are in a ice storm, rain storm, snow or a hurricane, its nice to know you are in a jeep. Try clearing road hazards in a vehicle like the Explorer when you only have 6 inches of ground clearence. Jeep has greatly improved its reliability in the last three years. Consumer Reports rates it well from 2000 on.

Great Vehicle - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Mike97 - May 10 - 2:00 amHave had the JGCL with HO V-8 for about five months. Zero defects in build quality--no faults so far, which is surprising. Very comfortable with no "climbing or crawling" required for entry/exit, important to someone with orthopedic problems. Front seats adjust to almost any desired position, and the heated seats are great--tho the high setting is definitely high. Great vehicle, with decent gas mileage using regular gas on the road at legal speeds, tho not so great in town. A "Keeper."

Nothing Better Than A CHEROKEE!!! - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By amkmo3 - February 20 - 10:00 amMy First was a 1994 SE model, just the base model I honestly drove it until it fell apart, "Lil RED MULE" had a tough life!!! I had to junk it and cried like a baby to see her go!!! but with 450,725 miles and only one repair job for $159.52 you cant beat that with a stick. I am having the same great luck with my new jeep, I will not buy any thing else! The average mileage my family gets at trade-in on their Cherokees is 280,000 miles. And just to let you know These vehicles are built for safety, ask my in-laws who hit a 1700 pound cow one night and walked away with out a scratch even though the vehicle was totalled!

This really is a good Jeep - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Aaron - September 20 - 8:20 pmI bought this thing in 2007 with 33,000 miles on it, and the only issues I have had with are a fan module went out which caused it to overheat once or twice and the dealership replaced it with no questions asked. Also some of the window regulators broke which is was a little bummed about at first but was able to get them to stay up and the a/c works great so oh well! other than that I LOVE THIS THING! This is my second vehicle and the first was a 92 Cherokee with the same engine which is an awesome engine the 4.0 L inline six is said to be one of the best inline sixs ever made! I just turned over 77,000 miles and it still runs so smooth, acceleration is great, and i get 400 miles a tank!

My first JGC - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By iamdenistoyou - August 26 - 2:00 amHi there, i really like this vehicle. I test drove several other trucks and SUVs. This one is fun to drive, I dont have to worry about hitting a curb and damaging something. Jeeps are also pretty tough. I dont know about previous years but this vehicle has not had any problems.

Jeep Overland - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Marin - August 20 - 2:00 amAfter having a 2000 Jeep GC Limited, we stepped up to the Overland. The HO motor and the 5-speed transmission are the smoothest drivetrain I ever drove. Kills my BMW 530i. PS. My son totaled the Limited and him and his friend walked away without a scratch. The car bent, not my son

Awesome! - 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By greatsuv125 - March 23 - 7:06 amThis thing is a beast, what more can I say. I actually want to take it out on the snow drift covered roads because its that good. Ive passed Hummer H2s on the expressway when they were in the clear lane and I was in the snow covered side. 4.0L is virtually unbreakable and quick around town but it really needs another gear for truly good highway passing. Steering is vague but the brakes are fantastic at stopping the car even though my rotors were warped by 15,000 miles. Stock stereo has tons of thump to it, Ive never heard a better standard stereo and its not even the infinity version!
