I bought this bad boy used in late 1995 with 38k on it. While it has never left me stranded or failed to start, it ha been a money pit for the last few years with $1500-2000 per year going towards major repairs. I just found out today it needs new brakes (again) and about $800 in engine work. I told the shop to do the brakes and forget the rest. I plan on just keeping the oil changed and some new plugs until the thing wants to run no longer, which may be soon. While it has been a fun car, I would not buy another one due to the poor build quality and repair expense. I would not recommend a used one as a purchase unless you posses mechanical abilities and can do major repairs on your own.

I have always been a Jeep owner and proud but I bought a 1993 Grand Cherokee Laredo with 64000 miles two years ago and have had nothing but trouble! I have paid more in garage bills than I have in payments for the vehicle itself, everything started off good, just regular maintence here and there and like over night it went from one thing to another and is still running rampant through my wallet, I honestly think because of this vehicle I will never own another Jeep.

  • I love my Jeep, but it hates me - 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I bought this vehicle with 92000 miles on it and now has 147000 miles I love this vehicle. People rather have a Grand Cherokee or they want one. . I have just about $25000 in my Jeep even though I bought it for only $16000. That means that about $9000 have been spent on repairs, replacement of parts (some more than once).extremely horrible gas mileage, in town or on the highway, burns oil, just fixed a major oil leak. If I were to fix every single thing wrong with this vehicle, I would probably be able to say that I have $40000 invested in this vehicle which is pretty much the price of a top of the line brand new Grand Cherokee Limited 2003 model year.

I bought mine 3 years ago, and liked it to begin with, I always wanted a red grand Cherokee. Now that Ive had it, I dont think Ill be getting another. Atleast not one like mine again! The inline 6 engine is a sorry little fella. If you get stuck behind that rv going up the mountain, good luck getting around him on the straight away! And once again this winter (as per every winter Ive had it) it left me frustrated and stranded in the cold once already. Starters, ignition rotors, neutral safety switches, fuel pumps, this thing loves to find a reason to quit running. Also, nasty squeal when air conditioning is on. (common) and when it gets cold- my doors wont shut! (also common)
