This Year's Model Updates:

After going through a full redesign two years ago, the Jeep Grand Cherokee receives a few changes for 2007. Most notably, the Grand Cherokee is expanding its powertrain options and will now offer a diesel engine, as well as an all-new flex-fuel-capable V8 engine that can also run on E85. Additional safety features are now included as standard equipment across the lineup as well.

Pros:
  • Diesel and flex-fuel engine options available, high-performance SRT8 variant, stellar off-road ability, simple controls.
Cons:
  • Cramped backseat, subpar gas mileage with the V8 engine, ride can be bouncy over ruts.

  • My first lemon - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I bought the Jeep with only 3 miles on it. I, too, have experienced the uncertainty of whether the Jeep will accelerate and the windows I think are possessed. The dealership tells me "We cant reproduce these problems". Now, as the final insult, the engine "has thrown a rod" and I am expected to pay between $7,000-8,000 to get this fixed. I do not have all of my oil change receipts. I am told the oil was 2 quarts low. The oil was changed 5 weeks before the engine blew. No engine light came on, no oil light, no warning. I will never buy another Jeep product. For the money I have spent, I should be driving this vehicle for more than 3 years.

  • Poor Transmission on 3.0 liter CRD - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

We purchased our 3.0 liter Turbo Diesel CRD 10 months a go. The vehicle is right hand drive and purchased brand new in New Zealand. We returned the car after 5000 Km for the following- whining noise coming from rear Differential, this has since been repaired and just recently been replaced with a new diff that I believe has come from a Russian second world war truck, as it certainly sounds like one, in other words no solution. This has been exasperated by a poor transmission, poor shifting quality - delays in up shift, and a clunking jerky down shift from second to first in slow stopping conditions, we have a new transmission on the way out from the States, poor plastics and seats.

  • Never again - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I bought this Jeep based on the fact that I see them everywhere and liked the looks of them (and the lease was attractive). I used to drive a 1996 Grand Marquis with 210K miles on it and this thing made me miss that car. Windows didnt work right, moon roof never operated correctly (they didnt open or close correctly). The heat was horrible - either sweltering or freezing, no control. Seats were brutal. And to top it off, I opted for the v6 for "economic" reasons and settled for 15 mpg. A joke. Go for a Chevy or Toyota.

  • Not what I expected - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Wife and I purchased this jeep in Jan 2011 to replace a 2 seat ford ranger with a 4 x 4 family car. there have been issues with driver side window, alternator, water pump, low tire pressure sensors, and nothing is a cheap fix. the center brake light is about 80 dollars unless you get lucky and find it on ebay, it requires a $100 wire harness to put in an aftermarket stereo, mine did not have a luggage rack and they are hundreds of dollars to add. Some times it just goes out of gear when driving...kinda scary. Now the lights that light up the A/c controls are have burned out and they are soldered to a computer chip board and to replace them you have to purchase a new board. Be weary of thiscar

  • Not Happy - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Just outside warranty period. Had to replace the gear module. It cost $1100.00. I called Jeep, they were very rude. This is my second Jeep, will be my last. I do not recommend Jeep to anyone. They have really gone down hill.

  • Worst car EVERRR!!! - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I purchased my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee brand new right off of the lot so that I would not have to worry about having car troubles. This car has been nothing but troubles! First it started stalling right after I would begin driving. I took it in and they replaced the ESM module. Then one year later it began stalling again, once while I was going 70 mph on the highway! So, I took it in again... and they replaced the ESM module... Again! I filed a complaint with Chrystler and they said that if it happens again they will look into it. Well, 6 months later, my car randomly wont start and is stalling more frequently than ever. They say they cant find anything wrong with my car. It wont start!!

  • Absolute Worst Vehicle and Overall Experience EVER! - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Bought a "pristine" 2007 Jeep GC (5.7 Hemi) used with about 35k miles less than a year ago. The vehicle has spent more time at the dealership service center than on the road. It stalls in motion and at stops without warning, causing power steering and brakes to go out. Ive taken the Jeep to two different dealerships a total of 6 times now and the stalling is worse than ever. I have also filed complaints with Chrysler and NHTSA, with no recourse (neither have even contacted me back). This is the most dangerous and unreliable vehicle on the road. With thousands of other people experiencing the same stalling issue, I guess it will take someones death before anyone takes action.

  • Never again! - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I bought a 2007 Grand Cherokee last April with only 54K miles on it. Within 6K miles the rear differential went and I had to have the rear axel replaced at the cost of $2K. Then a module went for my tranny to the tune of $1300. Then the battery recently went and Im having issues with my dashboard lights constantly flashing. My mechanic is at his wits end with the flashing so if anyone has had this happen and they know what caused it please post the solution. I have owned Jeeps before but I will never buy one again. I am going back to owning a Toyota.

  • Hate this Jeep - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

I have a 2007 Jeep grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4,3. 7 liter v-6. This is not the first Jeep Ive owned but will probably be the last. It has been to the dealer 3 times in the last 6 months for the same problem. Driving down the road no matter what speed it does not stall but the computer drops it down to 20 mph and the engine will shutter. Sometimes it will correct itself and sometimes if you turn the car off and restart it it clears what ever the problem is. Dealer says they cant reproduce the problem. All I know is that this thing is dangerous. My wife was driving in heavy traffic and it cut out on her in 65 mph traffic and she almost got rear ended. Has anyone else had this problem?

  • 2006-07 NAV system is garbage - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

Bought a used Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited- under warranty, and the DVD nav system is pretty poor. the maps loaded up from factory doesnt show neighborhoods that have been in use since the 80s, new roads since the 80s, etc. The Dealer update DVD -$200 doesnt guarantee the date of the maps either. The Ebay version - watch out! IF theyre selling the original OEM, it still doesnt help. I have the SUV under warranty and the maps are not covered! I cant warn you enough about how poor Chrysler/Jeep did with this arrangement - customer is always cheated -no complete maps when new, $200 update has no guarantees! My $80 Tom Tom surpasses this junk system.
