Overview & Reviews
For 2004, Jaguar has reduced the base price of the X-Type 3.0 by almost $3,000. In other news, the Sport Package now includes 18-inch wheels and a 320-watt sound system. All X-Types get redesigned alloy wheels, as well as a revised front bumper and new foglights. The trunk lid has been reshaped and the push-button release for the trunk is now easier to operate.
- Comfortable highway ride, attractive styling inside and out, standard all-wheel drive, large trunk.

Looks good, reliability not there... - 2004 Jaguar X-Type
By terse - August 27 - 2:00 amFirst 12 months: 3 breakdowns, three tows to dealership, car out of service 27 days. Horrible experience w/dealer on third time, wont go back. Plus side: good ride, decent power, looks sharp. Negatives: Automatic transmission terrible, poor fit and finish.

My mistake - 2004 Jaguar X-Type
By Rick van Rijssen - August 27 - 2:00 amMy first Jaguar will be my last. New transmission at 2600m. Problem not identified after repeat visits to dealer. Whirring sound at low speeds annoying and alarming. Back seats cramped and headroom very limited. Gas mileage awful at average 17mpg, not what Jaguar wants you to believe. Trunk space about half of that in our 99 Acura TL. Mini spare tire did not improve my opinion of Jaguar. Great snow car! All wheel drive works well, sticky tires seem to claw their way through snow up to 18 inches. On icy hills we passed sliding SUVs BMWs and Mercedeses, as they were struggling to keep their footing. Passing reserve at higher speeds is good.

Great Car For the Money - 2004 Jaguar X-Type
By Ann Marie - July 24 - 4:46 pmThis car is awesome. All wheel drive with luxury combined. I had a 2002 model, but the 2004 is much better. The 3.0 is the way to go, with power & response. Steering is great, and it hugs the road well, even turning at high speeds. Reliability is fine. Dash vents keep popping out, but those are just plastic parts. Overall, the car is very well built.

2004 XType - Very Disappointing - 2004 Jaguar X-Type
By Bob - July 2 - 4:53 pmI have the 2004 X Type for a year and a half now and cant wait for the lease to be up. Both key remotes have broken at different times. Both headlights have gone out at different times. The wipers stopped working and had to be serviced with a new motor. The car now started emmitting a whining noise from the rear and now has to go back. The seats are very small and uncomfortable. The heated seats and rear defroster shut off at 15 minte intervals which is annoying. Horrible sounding stereo. Cup holders are made it appears for cups of British tea rather than water bottles. Rear seat is cramped. Great AWD in snow. Ample HP with 3.0 engine but nothing exciting. Hood ornament is best feature!

Jaguar X-Type 3.0 - 2004 Jaguar X-Type
By wingr - June 9 - 2:00 amNice car. Accelerates well. Handles great with all wheel drive. Ride is a little stiff and generally smooth but you can feel any road irregularities like a sport car suspension. Interior is nice and comfortable. Back seat is a little tight. Base stereo sounds good.
