This Year's Model Updates:

For 2004, Jaguar has reduced the base price of the X-Type 3.0 by almost $3,000. In other news, the Sport Package now includes 18-inch wheels and a 320-watt sound system. All X-Types get redesigned alloy wheels, as well as a revised front bumper and new foglights. The trunk lid has been reshaped and the push-button release for the trunk is now easier to operate.

Pros:
  • Comfortable highway ride, attractive styling inside and out, standard all-wheel drive, large trunk.

I found a steal on a 2004 2.5 X-type with only 21k mileage. I couldnt resist at the under 10k price despite their maintenance reputation. I was shocked at how well it handles and with the 5 speed and 200 horses it can be driven like the cat it is. Im sure the 3.0 or the 430 horse versions are nice improvements. Being in the NW I appreciate the AWD in the snow but the torquey nature of the car will set you sliding if youre not careful. Not an Outback for sure but it looks hotter!

Well performance car handles excellent in the snow. Its a fun car to drive and handles great! Very impressed the first time I got behind the wheel for a test drive. A very solid car for a small vehicle handles like its a much heavier car.

For about $30K this is a lot of luxury. The small V6 works fine especially with the price of gas going up. There is a bit of "over steer" with the front wheel drive but, I live in the city and cant go racing around. The car has a solid handling feel and downshifts when power is needed. The A/C works great even with the V6. This model works well for my needs.

Bought this car in December and I have 5000 miles on it now. No problems and love it more every day. Outstanding looks, good performance, improving gas mileage with age (now up to 26 Hwy), and a level of exclusivity that you dont find in the competitors. Great in the snow and ice, handles great and is smooth and quiet. Great leather interior. If you can get your hands on one of these cars, go for it. The best kept secret in cars.

I just purchased this 2004 Jaguar X- type and so far I love this car. I was looking for a nice affordable luxury car and decided to check out Jaguar. I was very impressed with the style of the car. The interior is very nice and comfortable with all of the options a nice luxury car should have. I love driving a 5 spd and love that the x- type has it. I can not wait to test the awd in the bad weather. I have had the car for a short period of time but love it so far.

I was really impressed with how solid and well built this car is! Smooth, ride, more power than I will use, and just a beautiful design inside and out. This car will turn heads.

I owned a BMW M3 immediately prior to buying the Jaguar X. The X is far superior in handling, fuel economy, and comfort. I love driving it and it is dynamite on ice and snow. I didnt put snow tires on it and have had no trouble whatsoever getting around in bad weather.

I just purchased my 2d X Type after having the first one collected by the manufacturer last year as a result of a lemon law action. My first comments are, that at about 4K less MSRP than my 2002 X-Type that the car is a much better 36K car than a 40K car. Secondly, fit and finish HAVE improved immeasurably, yet, I believe there is still some need to improve. Thirdly, for some reason the ride and handling are a bit "off" from the 2002 car, especially in the feel of the rear suspension. In fainess, I am comparing my recollection of a car with 10K miles to a car right out of the box in need of break in.

Number one when I tell people I bought my wife a jaguar x they think I spent a lot of money but not really. The car is a lot of fun to drive, holds the road great, fast when I need it, stops great also. I feel safe. The warranty is very good and the company contacts you on every thing. But two things I dont like are brake dust on the wheels and it looks like the Ford Taurus sometimes.

OK, so said I wouldnt buy it out of the lease and I did anyway. It was the cheapest thing to do. Just put shocks, struts, tires and front brakes on it, all wear items. Havent had any other problems other than a front axle seal leak, covered under warranty. The cars style stands out in a sea of styling mediocrity and angry kitchen appliances. Gas mileage stands at 23 MPG on premium fuel over 71K miles. Never any major problems, just a bunch of annoying small ones and it has never left us sitting, unlike every Japanese car weve ever owned.
