This Year's Model Updates:

Isuzu juggles minor standard and optional equipment for 1999, making items from last year's S V6 preferred equipment package standard on the LS, and last year's LS equipment standard on a new trim level called LSE.

Pros:
  • Stylish interior, rugged exterior, roomy rear seat.
Cons:
  • Disconnected steering feel, lousy 4WD button placement.

  • 50000 Miles and no complaints - 1999 Isuzu Rodeo

I have had no problems other than a bad ABS sensor that was replaced under warranty.

  • 185k and still going - 1999 Isuzu Rodeo
    By -

Have had this car for 185k and Im pleasantly surprised that its still kicking. Sure, repairs have been needed, but the transmission and engine are still good. The 2 major issues were a defect where the steering column wore through a brake line (covered under warranty), and the ECM on-board computer failed at 165k, causing the engine to missfire and transmission to go wacky, took a while to troubleshoot that one. But overall Im super pleased with the longevity, versatility, ride, cargo capacity, and perfect size in this mid-sized SUV. Im planning to retire the old boy at 200k, and Im having difficulty finding a similar sized SUV with a V6 and the same interior space/cargo room

  • Never let me down - 1999 Isuzu Rodeo
    By -

This car serves its purpose of getting me to the mountains or on long freeway trips. I dont see it as an in-town car and dont use it much for that. I can easily drive it 16 hours straight without discomfort, so not sure why others complain about comfort. Even mountain driving has averaged 20-22 mpg, so again not sure why others get bad mileage. Its not a love affair, but Ive had no repairs and it does what its supposed to do. Granted, a set of Michelin cross track tires smoothed and silenced the highway ride like I could not believe. No rattles yet, and everything works. Compared to my Honda Accord, it has been a charm reliability wise -- no living at the dealership.

  • Great Vehicle - 1999 Isuzu Rodeo

I purchased my 1999 Rodeo LS V6 4WD new with 68 miles on it. I currently have 121,000 miles on it and the engine is still as strong as day one. The vehicle is great for trips due to the size of the seating and cargo area. Mine has the tow package and the vehicle excels at towing. My vehicle has never let me down or left me stranded. The engine is rock solid. Note, I have always taken my vehicle to the dealership for major maintenance (30K, 60K, and 90K) which has kept the vehicle running in top shape. I would only recommend an Isuzu Dealership with a Master Isuzu Mechanic. At any rate, my Rodeo is still rolling very well!

  • Great SUV Isuzu Rules - 1999 Isuzu Rodeo

Well what can i say i have owned two Isuzus a 1990 Trooper that has 199,000 miles and a 1999 Rodeo With 102,000 miles these are great suvs I am only 18 years old and have grown up around cars ranging from Fiats to Mercedes (first car-300SDL). Dont get me wrong im not saying that an Isuzu can equal a Mercedes in anything except price but for the money spent there is not better automoblies avalible.

  • I love my Rodeo - 1999 Isuzu Rodeo

I was rear-ended on the interstate. The offender hit me at an estimated 55 mph. I hardly felt a thing! The design really held up! A small problem with the O2 sensors was quickly cleared up, otherwise ... no major problems. I love my Rodeo!

  • Great Buy - 1999 Isuzu Rodeo
    By -

Bought the car new in 1999 and have not had any problems. Finally replaced the barkes at 103,000 miles. Other than maintence I have had to spend nothing else. I am now selling for a van because we are a growing family. I wish Isuzu made a van. We have owned several Isuzus in the past and they have all been very reliable. I have recommended it to many friends.

  • What a great SUV - 1999 Isuzu Rodeo
    By -

Since I bought this truck in May of 2007 with 182,000 on it, I never had a problem except changing the oxygen sensor which the truck had when I bought it. It has remained very reliable ever since. One complaint though is that the front seats are not that comfortable on a long trip. Will still get another one to keep since they dont make them any longer. A real bargain for a used SUV. Buy one and you will be happy.

The rodeo is a very reliable truck. It is simple to go into 4 wheel drive and has minimal maintenance problems. It is great off road as well as handling on the open road. I love it..

  • Stylish fun - 1999 Isuzu Rodeo
    By -

Love it! Fun vehicle to drive and has a smooth comfortable feel over bumpy roads. The interior is very spacious, one doesnt feel "close in", that is, the driver does not "fit like a glove" in the driver seat...its not a sports car...its a SUV.
