This Year's Model Updates:

Isuzu juggles minor standard and optional equipment for 1999, making items from last year's S V6 preferred equipment package standard on the LS, and last year's LS equipment standard on a new trim level called LSE.

Pros:
  • Stylish interior, rugged exterior, roomy rear seat.
Cons:
  • Disconnected steering feel, lousy 4WD button placement.

  • Very Good SUV - 1999 Isuzu Rodeo

Have had this SUV for about 3& half years, with 41,000 miles. Has been very, very reliable. Noticed someone else wrote their fuel sensor is bad, mine also is borken and always reads "E". Other than that not one problem, nothing. Love the pick-up and the transmission shifts very smoothly. Want to get another Isuzu but hate to let this one go. Its still under power train warranty and has been so good to me.

I got it when my base model 96 rodeo was dying (almost 300000 miles), and it was everything I wanted in a vehicle. I love how it still feels like a truck instead of a car and it gets up and goes in a pinch. The 5 speed is greatly welcome. My gas gage is one of the few that still works, but it burns oil and its fuel pump is dying. But its got great room and is fun on long road trips with my friend.

This truck is fun to drive. Off road it handles well. However, Ive lost 2 sets of front bumpers with minor taps. The seats are very unconforibel for long drives.

  • 1999 Rodeo "The Best" - 1999 Isuzu Rodeo

Bought my 99 Rodeo about 7 years ago "used" with 30K miles. Been the BEST Auto I have ever had and I have owned many ...... !! Serviced and changed oil regularly as scheduled. Now has over 135,000 miles and still runs great and is nice and tight. Only repairs made during my 105k ownership aside from tires & brakes is a starter replacement and gasket leak to sealed transmission about $400.00 cost. and a couple of batteries. Made many long trips it is a pleasure to drive. Average Hwy 21 mpg at 70 & 75 miles an hour. Wish I could find another with lower miles would buy it in a heart beat ..... You gotta shoot-em to kill - em ..... Great Mid-Size SUV ... !!

My second Rodeo was just as reliable as my first one.

  • Pretty Good Truck - 1999 Isuzu Rodeo

I have had my rodeo for 3 years now. Its has been a great truck! Only problem has been the fuel sensor or something, the hand stays on e all the time, but I just reset the trip tackometer every time I fill up. I doubt if it is still under warranty it has 88k now. The head rest if very uncomfortable for resting on long drives but other than that, I like the truck.

  • All around fun car - 1999 Isuzu Rodeo

Have had my Rodeo for almost 3 years and it has been pretty good to me. No major problems ever. Mostly put on highway miles. Great acceleration! Very quick car, even at highway speed. Though the steering doesnt feel that solid as Id like at high speeds. Handles turns well. Have had my 6CD changer replaced twice!! The front seats are too short and become uncomfortable on long trips. Not enough leg room for me (6ft 2), the steering wheel is too far away. Interior is almost too simple and basic but I kinda liked that at first.

  • Great SUV for the price - 1999 Isuzu Rodeo

I purchased LS 4X4 new, in 1999. With just over 90,000 miles, it continues to look great and run well. Some of the paint has been "dinged" by off road work. Ive been pretty fanatical about keeping a good wax coat on it. Nothing unusual - normal wear items replaced (brakes, tires, shocks, battery). Because the dealer has an excellent reputation, there are many of these running around town and most drivers say they are happy. Gets about 15mg in town, 21-22 on highway. If one really needs an SUV, this is a good deal, given low resale price compared to 4Runner and others.

Overall a good car. Good power. Fair Gas mileage. Fuel pump and ABS replaced. Was a little stressful having them go bad, but the dealer replaced them without any questions. 2nd fuel pump making the same noise as the first one. Good dealer support.
