Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

Happy 40th birthday to me! This car rocks. Great handling. Great off the line. Great cornering. Giddy-up. As a 3 nissan owner, glad to see that infiniti continues with a whole lotta car at a great value. Look like an angel and drive like the devil.

  • My 12th SUV and the best yet - 2006 Infiniti QX56
    By -

After comparing other SUVs in this class, It was a easy choice. Each of the competitors have some features that are good, but, Infiniti QX56 has the most features of all others for the price. Power is great. Ride and handling are very good. The interior is comfortable and good looking. You feel very safe in this vehicle. My Wife said she could be happy with others, but she would be real happy with the QX56. She loves her QX56

  • 2001 I-30 Outstanding Reliability and Value - 2001 Infiniti I30
    By -

Purchased new 2001. After some O2 and Mass Airflow sensor failures during 60K warranty period, no repairs until 148,000 miles (starter) and 160K m (radiator). Now at 178Km and car drives like it has 50K on it. I could not be happier with it. My 21 yr old son wants me to replace it (with G37) and retire the I30 to him! This car has been a 10+ on a 10 point scale.

MY OVERALL REVIEW IN THIS CAR IS GOOD. THE CAR ACCELERATES LIKE NO OTHER, WHEN I HAVE FRIENDS DRIVE IT, THEY HIT THE BRAKES AND WE GET WHIP LASH (NO ONE IS USE TO BRAKES THAT GOOD). IVE EVEN DRIVEN UP ON CURVES AND I HAVE NEVER SCRATCHED MY RIMS. =). I LOOKED AT SEVERAL CARS AND I THOUGHT THIS SUITED ME BEST. EVERYONE IN L.A. HAS A BENZ,BMW, OR LEXUS. ITS ORIGINAL AND NEW! IVE BEEN FOOLED BY MY OWN CAR THINKING IT WAS A BENZ WHEN IT ARRIVED FROM THE VALET! ITS BEEN 7 MONTHS AND IM VERY HAPPY.

  • M45 vs 540i - 2004 Infiniti M45
    By -

Just traded a BMW 540i for the M45. Beemer went into the shop one time too many. Slightly less than 540i in pure kick ass performance but a whole ton of very nice amenities that cost $1,000s more from BMW. Closest car I could find in overall performance to replace my 540i and reduce the maintence costs substantially.

  • New G35 - 2008 Infiniti G35
    By -

Test drove many before I narrowed it down to the Acura TL and the G35. G35 was a much tighter drive and the exterior lines are much better and more unique. Only had for two weeks, but to date, I am very happy with the car. Was going to purchase the Blue slate but when I saw this in the sunlight it was too close to black. I thought Lakeshore was too light but it is perfect in person. Not too many running around town either.

  • Supremely Comfortable and Functional - 2013 Infiniti JX
    By -

My wife and I are in our early 40s, and we have a toddler. We wanted a car that has all of the practical amenities that we need for our kid and her stuff, along with the luxuries to which wed become accustomed. The JX suited our needs better than any other vehicle on the market. Also, in the big scheme of things, its actually a pretty solid value for what you get. E.g., we only paid about $5000 more for a JX thats loaded with the driver-assistance package and theater package than we wouldve paid for a comparably loaded Toyota Sienna Limited.

  • Still Fun To Drive!! - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

After six months of ownership Ive already packed 14000 miles on this rocketship. Still an amazing vehicle!! No problems thus far, and I still enjoy the tune of the engine at throttle. Turns heads all the time. Still not a regret about gettin the car, although I envy the look of the coupe.
