Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • To many rattles - 2005 Infiniti QX56
    By -

This suv has an overhead console that does nothing but rattle. The noise is so intense that I can not enjoy the true fun of driving this vehicle. In addition the drivers seat offers very little support,it seems to cavein rather than support.Since I took ownership I have had to have the rotors cut on three different occasions. In short, as for quality, this vehicle leaves a lot to be desired.

  • I dont miss the BMW! - 2004 Infiniti QX56

We were on our way to see an used LX and decided to stop by this inf. dealer just to take a quick look at the new QX since we are far away from the dealer and hadnt got a chance to see it. The next thing we know, our year- long search for a SUV ended there two hours later; we left the dealer with a piece of signed paper in hands. We have owned it for three months now and had a 1200 miles trip with six peopke inside (nobody complained). Many good things have been said already, not need to repeat. Just want to say that before this QX we had a van, me and my husband often faught for our other car, a BMW; but now any of us will be happy to take the truck. :)

  • Good but not great. - 2003 Infiniti G35

Bought used w/ 100K miles after my other car was totaled in a wreck. Overall, a very fast RWD car that looks good and has a solid, reliable 3.5L Nissan powertrain. Nice seats, good visibility. Combined MPG is 21-22, but Ive nursed it to 28-29hwy. Push it and youll see 15-17mpg real quick though. Overall a fun car to drive, looks good, and is reliable enough for me (Im a salesman and drive a lot). Ive heard of people getting 250k miles on theirs, which is good to know. There are some design flaws and electrical issues which are inexcusable though.

  • High Miles = Disappointing - 2004 Infiniti G35

I bought my car with 75,000 from a dealer and immediately had trouble with the following things: 1. power steering 2. gas door actuator 3. internal fuel system 4. air bags 5. cd player 6. blue smoke when I start the car. I have had it in the shop almost once a month. Maybe it is just a lemon. The car just rolled over 94,000 miles and I am trading it in tomorrow. YAY! I owned a 2000 lexus gs400 before this car, and the lexus blew this out of the water.

  • Just Right - 2003 Infiniti QX4
    By -

Ive had my QX4 almost one year now & I still love it. Okay, so I get like 2 mpg but so what. When I push the pedal I get immediate & powerful response without so much as a moments hesitation. I drove all the SUVs in the class before buying the QX4 & I chose it because it has impeccable design & quality inside & its a sharp looking vehicle on the outside. I still do the "look back" when walking away from it a year later. There are nicer riding, more powerful, less expensive SUVs out there. Depends on your taste, but if I wanted an SUV that rode & drove like a car...Id have bought a car.

  • Very classy, yet still a beast - 2004 Infiniti G35
    By -

The most impressive thing about this car is its overall driving experience. Similar to BMWs, the steering wheel, arm rest, shifter, controls and pedals are all positioned perfectly making you feel like youre in complete control of the car. Handling is excellent and steering is tight and stable. In addition, the G35x has lots of power under the hood, despite the added weight of AWD. The car accelerates quickly and responds well in the in the 3000-5000 RPM range. Very torquey, but in a good way. If you like to speed a bit, this car owns the highway like its on greased rails. If youre a conservative driver, the overall stability of the car should give you nice piece of mind.

  • CVT Transmission issue - 2013 Infiniti JX
    By -

I love my 2013 except for the CVT transmission issues Ive been having ever since I picked up my car. It "shuttered" from the first month, through and into the 10 month. My local Infinity dealer finally had a tech ride with me and he felt the significant "shuttering" that I experienced. The dealer was very good about trying to help and even replaced the transmission, per their Infinity service people. But still it persists. Im done with it. Too bad too - nice car.

  • 1a - 2007 Infiniti M45
    By -

After 3500 miles the M45 has been a pure joy to drive. The rear view camera works very well as does the adaptive speed control. The lane departure function can be annoying on streets that have uneven surfaces or are a bit rough as these surfaces are picked up as lines and false readings are frequent. I am about to turn this feature off. Acceleration is more than adequate and handling is superb. Fuel consumption is a bit disappointing at only 16 mpg combined. Overall a great car.

  • Lovin it - 2005 Infiniti G35

Only had it a short time but Im loving it. I also have a z3 and although nothing beats top down on the right day - this performs as well if not better and is just as much fun to drive
