Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

Ive had this car for 6 months and its been everything the reviews rave about. Power all the way through each gear and a head-turner too. If you want to challenge everything on the road, this is it.

  • The G35 Absolutely A Pleasure To Drive - 2007 Infiniti G35
    By -

Originally had my heart set on a BMW 335 but instantly fell in love with the 2007 G35 the moment I sat in it and floored the accelerator. I was amazed at the incredible power and attention to detail in both interior and exterior. I bought the 2007 Journey G35, Blue Slate with Stone Interior, premium package with navigation. It is truly an absolute pleasure to drive and highly recommend anyone considering a BMW to at least test drive a G35. A classy, sleek, very fast, luxury car.

After test driving the C class Benz, my husband and I stopped at the Infiniti dealership. I was impressed by all the extras and once I drove it, it was a sale. Awesome vehicle for the family and I have pre teenagers. My oldest son is very tall and its a tad bit head bumping when you go across a hump, but it is fun, sporty, luxurious, simply perfection. Ive owned a civic, accord, prelude, saturn, expedition, suburban, mustang, quest... no comparison. Im in love with my vehicle. Im averaging 20-no compliants from me! Not one single complaint.

  • CVT Transmission is this cars downfall - 2013 Infiniti JX
    By -

We bought the JX as the family car. Loved the third row, and the fact that we did not have to take the car seat out to get to the third row. Also, even with the seats up, there was a small trunk. The interior room is great, especially in the rear. However, between the terrible CVT transmission, and the poor gas mileage, I doubt I would buy this again. This isnt a performance car by any stretch, but dont want it to be. However, there are times it barely gets out of its own way - this I blame on the transmission as it seems to be constantly hunting for the best "gear". Just makes it uncomfortable to drive. As for gas mileage, we are around 15... far below what we expected.

  • Best Value and lots of fun - 2003 Infiniti I35

One of the best cars I have ever owned. Not a single problem and 30+ mpg on the road on REGULAR nolead. (Premium is recommended, not required). No service issues and good handling and trunk space. Why are they stopping this model after this year. Add AWD and dual AC and you could go on for another five years with me buying another one. EXCELLENT in all respects.

  • Bang for your Buck - 2004 Infiniti G35

This is by far the best bang for your buck that you can get on the market. This is a fast sports sedan with luxury appointments.

  • Best car for the money - 2004 Infiniti G35
    By -

For $35,000 there isnt a car that comes close. I looked at the BMW 330Xi first. It was $8,000 more and didnt have the power and some of the ammenities that the Infiniti had. You have to spend $50-$55k for a German vehicle that can compete with the G35. The Acura TL is nice but a front-wheel drive sedan with 270hp is something I would not drive. Test drove, after pulling out of the dealership the torque steer almost pulled the car into the left lane. Immediately went back to the dealer and gave back keys. Fine if you drive 55mph but if you are aggressive you do not want the TL.

  • Wonderful car but gasaholic! - 2002 Infiniti I35
    By -

I bought this car in 2007 with 57K miles on it. I love this car. Very responsive and the quality of this car is awesome. Ive only had 2 repairs with this car, radiator and steering fluid replacement. Mind you, its best if you immediately repair any issues before it gets worse because it can get pricey. I engine lights comes on from time to time. I believe its because of the amount of oil in the engine. Once I add oil to lights come off. Who knows! Once I felt my radiator was going bad I fixed it pronto. Trust me you will save lots of money. Car has a very smooth ride and it has never failed me til this day. The biggest problem I have with this car is that its a gasaholic! Terrible

  • Hot Rod - 2003 Infiniti G35

I knew from the minute I saw and read about the car with my automotive background their was no car that is close to the G35 before the critics had got their hands on it. Ive had mine for 8 months already and get compliment after compliment from my clients and friends. The car really is a joy to drive. I would recommend the car to anybody. The service is lacking. But I do love my G35.
