Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • The best new used car I owned! - 2008 Infiniti G37

Previous owner took really good car of this car. Drives like new. Minor cosmetic wear and tear...only if you look for it. Otherwise, awesome car.

  • Big and Bold - 2011 Infiniti QX56

Love the interior quality and features. Engine is strong and space is plentiful. Have a vibration in steering, flooring that the dealer has not fixed. It is not the tires/rims. Engine light came on at 1400 miles! Have only seen 12. 4 miles per gallon and thats keeping rpm under 2000!

  • Rocks and flawless - 2006 Infiniti M45

  • My first luxury car - 1999 Infiniti I30
    By -

I was in the market for a new car ever since my dodge neon went into early retirement after 5 years of service. I was originally considering a lexus GS 300, Lexus ES 300, or an Acura 3.5 RL. But then I saw this black 1999 I30 on the lot of a local used car lot and was impressed by it. I quickly purchased it and I am glad I did. Its 190 hp v6 feels as powerful as the 227 hp v6 in the newer I30s. The gauges and interior are similar to the newer I30s. Even with rising fuel costs this car can take about $45.00 worth of gas. The Bose stereo is okay but lacking compared to the newer Maximas and I30s. Overall a great value for a low mileage car under $10,000

  • G35X - 2008 Infiniti G35

I wanted a vehicle with reasonable performance, all wheel drive, navigation and adaptive or intelligent cruise control. After factoring in reasonable price, (Edmunds Incentives and Rebates section saved me thousands) the list became a toss up between the EX35 or the G35X. I chose the G35X as it has been on Car and Drivers 10 best list. Great car. Infiniti offers more technology and performance for the price than any other make. My dealer experience has been very pleasant also.

  • I35 - 2002 Infiniti I35

THE CAR RIDES BEAUTIFULLY. HAS GREAT PICK-UP, A LITTLE TOO POWERFUL FOR FRONT WHEEL DRIVE. ENGINE EXTREMELY QUIET. OVERALL, A GREAT DRIVING EXPERIENCE FOR A NEAR LUXURY AUTO. GOOD VALUE FOR THE MONEY.

  • G35 Sedan 6MT - 2006 Infiniti G35
    By -

I was looking for a car to replace my aging Acura Legend and 3000GT. After searching for the past two years, I finally pulled the trigger on the G35. Not only did we score a great deal on the car, the car is everything i hoped it would be. Once you turn off the VDS, the car is a total beast. the raw power merging onto the freeway took me by surprise and I wasnt even out of 3rd yet! Ive driven all of the top german makers before purchasing this car. If all of their efforts went into the power train, why is it that every other car i see on the side of the highway is of german make? Test drive this car, get on the freeway, get into 6th gear @65 and punch the gas. youll be sold.

  • Fun, Reliable, Easy on the eye - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

I love this car. Infinini service is excellent. They dont miss a beat. Any issues are immediatly taken care of and they even provide a loaner while the car is in service. This is my first Infiniti, although I have had 2 Nissan Maximas in the past. A blast to drive.

  • 175K miles and still going strong - 2000 Infiniti G20
    By -

Bought my G20T 5speed new in 2000 and 175K miles later it still drives like the day I bought it. Tires, 1 clutch, brakes, belts and hoses (normal wear and tear items) is all Ive ever had to do for it and I still get 32 MPG. No rattles, squeaks or electrical gremlins that plagues other cars its age - a true testament to the engineering and build quality of Infiniti. Simply put this is the best car I have ever owned and I still get compliments on it 9 years later. I fully expect to get 300K miles out of this car but when the day comes that I finally give her up you can be sure that Ill go to the nearest Infiniti dealer for the next G- whatever that happens to be new that year.

  • 2004 G35 Coupe 6MT - 2004 Infiniti G35
    By -

I bought this car solely because of how Motor Trend rated it as Car of the Year. The car is very fast, but the tire road noise from the stock Michelin tires is loud and roaring. The paint chips/scratches easy. We only put about 18K on the car already since new and had to replace the front brakes already. Considering selling it and going with a BMW or Mercedes, not at all what I expected from Infiniti. The auto transmission occasionally shifts very hard, had it checked by the dealer, but they could not repeat the problem. The garage door opener paint is fading off. The back seats are not for adults, no head room.
