Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Bring it Back, Please Bring it Back?! - 2002 Infiniti QX4
    By -

Bought mine used with about 39K. Never had anything but routine maint. before I bought it and hasnt had anything but that since Ive owned it. Had a 4Runner, than a Pathfinder now the Q. All great vehicles, but this one is my favorite (yes even over the newer models of the aforementioned). Although we all know it is a gussied up Pathfinder, it really isnt. Same great reliability, and performance but much better styling, features. Not as many on the road (be different), still looks better than most SUVs even though it is 5 yrs old (timeless style). Everything about it just feels right, solid, fits. Definitely the best vehicle I have owned (and Ive had a couple peoples share)!!

  • Best Road Trip Vehicle Ever - 2010 Infiniti QX56
    By -

We purchased this 2010 to replace our 2006 QX56 after running the numbers and arriving on the positive end of the deal! The 2010 handles considerably better, due primarily to the larger diameter/lower profile tire package. In October we drove this beast on a 3,000 mile round trip, in complete comfort. The electronics, incredibly smooth ride and ample power made this junket truly easy. Even the three year old in his car seat had zero complaints (DVD player to the rescue!). Gas mileage is not good, but the trade results in superior safety and performance.

  • LOVE MY INFINITI!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ - 2003 Infiniti G35

I have been researching and researching before deciding on this car. I have never gotten so many double takes when going through a drive-thru or driving down the road!! This car is a LQQKER!!!!! I hear a bunch of complaints about the orange backlights, but I LOVE them !!!!!! I dont have a problem seeing with them at all!! The clock could definitely use a brighter light though. Another complaint I had was that the side view mirrors dont have a defrost unless you get the winter package. The room in the back seat is awesome and the reclining seats, a plus!! I love driving this car!! IT FLIES~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think it gets great gas mileage too!!!!

  • Pure Joy - 2005 Infiniti G35
    By -

I considered buying or leasing a BMW 3 series, but after driving the G35 I was sold. Its as much fun to drive, the reliability is higher than the 3 series and the roominess was incredible compared to the Bimmer. The 3 series is really a sub compact. The only disappointment was in the gas mileage, although not terrible, not as high as it could have been.

  • great - 2005 Infiniti G35

great style, luxury all you could ask for. The car has horsepower and torque. I like the way the car handles and the looks I get when driving. Getting used to all the controls take some time, but the owners manual is very helpful. I would recommend this car for anyone and I am am old mopar man from years back. This car is actually my wifes car and she picked it out and I reluctantly said ok after researching it. She loves the car and the power, speed, and the style the most. This is our first car that is not a domestic vehicle and now I am convinced of the quality and reliability of this vehicle so that the next vehicle, meaning mine may be in the Infiniti design. We a re very happy.

  • Great choice - 2005 Infiniti G35

This car has been great to drive-plenty of zip with a great sporty sound too. The only problem was an early issue with the transmission control valve. Thats been replaced and the car has been great. It gets plenty of positive comments from people who see it.

  • 135K and still ticking - 2000 Infiniti G20
    By -

Bought this car for the wife Feb 2000. Has 135K 7 years later and outside of regular maintenance (inc tires) the only expense has been a starter and a battery. Though not strong on HP the car is really fun to drive. It handles curves better than any car I have owned. The sound system has been great. The leather interior has held up well and after a wash and detail, the car looks almost new. Excellent paint job.

  • Very underrated car - 2002 Infiniti G20

Opt for the 5 speed, and you will get above average performance. The seats are comfortable. The stereo is great. The rear seats are surprisingly roomy for a vehicle in this class. Handling is excellent. If you think the base G20 looks a bit bland, opt for the Sports package. Reliable.
