Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • what a mistake - 2013 Infiniti JX

We bought this car new, and finally traded it in at 18 months of continuous warranty issues. Our vehicle spent over two months in the service department for miscellaneous issues. They were not major mechanical problems, but more trim and interior build issues. Called to try and exchange on Lemon law, but was denied and told that there is a warranty on the vehicle for these types of issues. We really liked the safety features, but the loaners dont always have them and we spent just too much time in service. List on this vehicle was 57,000, trade in $35,000. We were happy to get rid of the vehicle and promise to never buy an Infiniti again.

  • Best SUV yet! - 2004 Infiniti QX56

Always had a large suv but wanted somthing more luxurious and solid, saw the tv commercial for QX and i knew i had to have it. Mine came with a wheel package on it, (Someone did it after shipping to dealer) there was no comparison when it sat next to the others had to have it. Just be careful if doing it after market make sure your tire sensors will still be able to read the tire pressure, was told some may not be able to.

Love the car. More important, my wife loves the car. Got a great deal, the only good thing about dealing with the dealership.

  • True value - 2000 Infiniti I30

This car has been best value of any of the cars I have purchased in the past. (under $30K) Besides being priced fair, it has every add-on that one could want without having to pay an extra. Repairs have non-existant or covered by the warrenty. Looks are classy and clean, does not show its age in the styling changes that other vehicles do each couple of years. I will buy another one in the future.

  • Terrific for Four! - 2006 Infiniti G35
    By -

This is my second G35. I had a 2003 G35 6MT until May, 2006. I find the 2006 to be a little more refined, a little more mature, and a little less edgy than my 2003. It is a superb tourer for 4 people, providing a great blend of space, comfort, and performance. Initial indications are that the fuel economy will be at least as good as in my 2003 (about 22-23 mpg overall -- I dont usually have too much stop and go traffic to deal with).

  • 3 months in and I love it - 2007 Infiniti M45

Car is a great mix of luxury and power and sports car all in one. Very comfortable seats, very smooth power. Car really does well in the 40-80 acceleration. 4000 miles and only an oil change. Car handles very well, better than my BMW 530i.
