Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • I LOVE this car! Infiniti has another winner! - 2016 Infiniti QX50
    By -

I had three Infiniti sedans before, and decided to get a Mercedes C300 AWD just to change things up...well, after 25,000 miles I couldnt wait to get rid of the Mercedes and get back to Infiniti. There were so many things the Mercedes didnt have that Infiniti did--and I am loving this crossover type! Its as fun to drive as the G37X sedans were but it has so much more room inside, and I enjoy sitting up a bit higher.

  • Tried ALL luxury cars, this is the BEST - 2014 Infiniti QX60
    By -

We test drove every luxury SUV on the market today, even the gas guzzlers. As soon as we pulled out of the car lot, we knew this was the one. Great performance, reliability and more. I have had a Lexus 4 door car, and a Mercedes E class. This is by far the best of them all. The price is descent. And all the complaints here, sounds like the repair shop is the problem. Erg, I understand the aggravations, but trust me, Mercedes and Lexus is just as bad. Sucks when you pay good money for bad service. Even had a Toyota, same crap there too. By far, this SUV is a great choice.

  • Switch-Altima to G35 - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

Trade a 2002 Atima 3.5 SE for this car, and have been very satisfiedwith all aspects of the car so far. It is a great deal of fun to drive, with superior acceleration and handling compared to the Altima. The gas mileage has averaged about 21.5 miles per gallon, a pleasant surprise considering the pick-up of it.The Bose stereo sounds great , and am looking forward to the addition of XM sat. radio in the near future.Have no complaints at all so far, and would rate it a rousing success-a 9.5. Especially enjoy taking it on twisty roads to take advantge of the superior hanling dynamics.

  • Old but very reliable - 2002 Infiniti I35
    By -

I always read consumer reviews before buying a car and now I feel obliged to return the favor. I own this car for past 6 yrs, now have 100k on it. Still no complaints. Car looks great, enough room for a 6 footer. Nice quality leather and Bose system is crisp. I get about 20-22 mpg for city/hwy which is not bad for a car this size that is also very fast. Quality build, never had to spend a dime on it except for regular maintenance. After passing 90k I sometimes see the check engine light, but it goes away after a couple of days. These cars cost a bit more initially, but pay for themselves in the long run. I plan to keep it for another 3-4 years.

  • Perfect Car For Me - 2000 Infiniti I30
    By -

I purchased my I30 in 2003 with 47K miles on it. It now has 195K miles on it & I expect to get at least 250K without trying. Besides replacing brakes, tires, & battery, the only major issue Ive had was a transmission rebuild at 150K. The car still runs & looks like new - I still enjoy driving it today as much as I did when I bought it. I took in for service a couple of years ago & was given a 2010 G35 as a loaner car. I was expecting to be sold on trading up, but I was dissapointed in the ride & overall feel of the G35. I couldnt wait to get back into my I30. Also, the last time I put new tires on it, the serviceman couldnt believe how old it was & how good it looked.

  • G35 Sedan - Great so far - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

Great car. 1st "Entry-Luxury" car owned. Compared to BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Acura, G35 was the best bang for the buck (Acura TLs standard features made it a close second). Great exceleration and handling. I didnt want to be another sheep in the flock (BMWs, Mercs, etc). The G35 still stands out in the crowd.

  • Best car Ive owned - 2004 Infiniti G35
    By -

This is literally the best car Ive ever owned, for me anyway. And that includes Lincolns, Hondas (incl. S2000), corvette, z car. The styling gets comments every day and its been out for 2 years, the engine is superb, I dont even miss my S2000 except for the cloth top. I dont know what other reviewers are looking for who are rating this low for gas mileage, but I routinely get 18-21 mpg, including a good bit of town driving. OK, Id like them to move the seat switches (and add memory seats, but I understand thats a problem with a 2-door). The trunk holds my golf bag and more, much more with the rear seat folded down.
