Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • New model is cheap - 2012 Infiniti FX
    By -

This is our second FX. Our first was a 2008 and we loved it! Fast, comfortable great handling and sounded great. The lease ran out so we got a 2012. Mistake. Infinity replaced the 5 speed transmission with a cheap 7 speed transmission. It robs power, is confused, shifts up and down at random and delays during quick acceleration (like when you need to pass a car). The manual function is very dangerous. When down shifting, the transmission disengages and the car free-falls for a full second until the transmission re-engages. Also, after 6 months there will be a foul smell from the AC upon start up. The dealer will recommend turning off the AC for a few secs every time you park. Really?

  • Wouldnt but it - 2014 Infiniti QX60

Transmission doesnt work right sometimes it shakes when taking off, the sun visors had to be taken off wouldnt stay up on both sides and the warranty doesnt do anything for ya, you keep getting letters tell you about the problem and will get a hold of you when it can be fixed. I have never got a letter to bring in to get repaired. My wife and I do love the way it rides and handles just dont get any support

  • Great Car for $$$ - 2005 Infiniti G35
    By -

The 2005 G35 is a great car for the money. 280hp and the smooth shifting auto make this a very fun car to drive. I looked at previous models, but I wasnt impressed with the interior. The 2005 interior is a big improvement.

  • What a wonderful Truck - 2005 Infiniti QX56
    By -

Most of the time, the QX56 has felt very smooth on the road and has been extremely comfortable on long hauls to Mammoth. Comfort is great, but still a body on frame truck. Roomy all around. Great 2nd row - limo- like room. Same height and width, but the extra 8" length over the Yukon are surprisingly noticeable. The kids love it room for them, friends, and groceries. Tows like a champ, very comfortable on long trips. The 4wd system is great. No problems in 4 feet of snow or in light off-roading. Having a 4x4 lo range also sold us on this beast. After one year and 20k miles we are very happy. Currently 95k and counting.

  • QX 56 - 2006 Infiniti QX56

The only problem I see with my qx56 is the wobbly handling when hitting a bump

  • G35 - Violated - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

Makeup air opening for A/C fresh air under the hood allowed a critter to crawl inside and have babies, which died in my AC system. Nothing like the smell of rotting flesh in your air distribution system. I dont think it will ever be right again. Dealership installed some metal window screen mesh (which I provided) over the opening. So far Infiniti has not covered the cost under waranty or design defect. G35 owners - Remove the battery cover housing and look for this 3" x 6" opening and cover it before you have this problem..

  • Best of both Worlds! - 2007 Infiniti G35
    By -

Push it and it drives like a superb handling muscle car. Cruise and it is smooth luxury!. Tried Lexus, BMW and Mercedes. If you get this car fully loaded with the Tech pkg and its the perfect blend of them all. I am beyond happy with this car. Gas mileage is a drawback but it has a long list of positive trade offs. Manual Clutch takes some getting used to but is extreme fun once you master it.

  • An unexpected purchase - 2003 Infiniti M45
    By -

Went to the dealer to buy an FX45. Drove this just for comparison. The FX is still there, the M45 in our garage. Ive owned 2 Corvettes, a Roadrunner, GTO, a 442 Olds, a Trans Am and a Turbo Mazda. Only a couple were faster, but this car is unbelievable. Smooth, Quiet, comfortable, powerful all in one car. (It has surprised several Mustang GTs and an S2000 Honda owner on the freeway on-ramps.) What more could you ask for?

  • The right choice - 2003 Infiniti M45
    By -

Very pleased with my purchase. A dream to drive and nice not seeing one on every corning. Still a rarity on the streets. Well put together as you would expect an Infiniti to be. Traded in a 300M for better handling and got more than I could wish for in this size car.

  • Love my FX - 2012 Infiniti FX
    By -

Ive had my FX for about 2 years and I have about 30,000 miles on it. Overall I really like the car and I cant think of anything seriously wrong with it. I have the premium and deluxe touring package and I love the quilted leather and the 20 inch wheels. The navigation in my opinion works very well but I find it really annoying that its almost unusable when youre driving and I hate using voice commands. I think this car is good for someone who doesnt always have people in the car or need a lot of cargo room. The backseat space and trunk is descent but not great but it works perfectly for me. I also like that theres not a ton of them around so theyre not so commonplace.
