Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

I just bought the car of my dreams. Only have had it a few days, but it is definitely what a luxury suv should be. Rich styling, super comfortable and size is awesome for my 2, and soon to be, 3 kids. Smooth and fast for its size, its definitely a head turner.

  • G35 The car that sells itself - 2004 Infiniti G35

I was looking for something as fun to drive as the BMW but without the hit or miss reliablity of the BMW. The Acura TL was too soft in the handling dept. The Acura TSX was too small and the dealerships refuse to bargain. The G35 has it all. It has the handling of the BMW, the space, power and reliability of the TL. Test drive the car and dont be shy to get on it. It can take it.

  • So Far I Really Like the Car - 2012 Infiniti G Coupe
    By -

I purchased the car in November, 2011. No significant complaints so far. The acceleration is very good and the car handles well. The interior is nice and it is comfortable (except for the rear seats, which are cramped). Gas mileage isnt great, but I knew that when I bought the car. Compared to a BMW 3 series (which is what I had and which I was considering buying again), the value of this car cant be compared. It wouldve cost probably $15,000 more for a comparably equipped 335 BMW, and the Infiniti has a bigger engine (330 hp). The manual transmission is smooth and has a very short movement, which is nice. The Infiniti also uses standard motor oil, unlike the BMW.

  • Best of all worlds - 2005 Infiniti G35

Overall, best buy in this class...period. Compared to Acura TL, but FWD was a turnoff. I have driven the G35X in snow, sleet, freezing rain, and dry...and nothing can stop it. The "snow" mode is priceless in itself! Improvements in the interior from 2004 are many, including better seats, nice gauge layout, and real aluminum trim. The best part is actually driving though. Acceleration is superb. Braking is strong. Handles well. AWD steering is heavy though, so it takes effort. SMARTKEY: worth the price to leave keys in pocket and go! MP3 player works great with burned CDs. Price is good considering content.

  • 2006 Infiniti G35 - 2006 Infiniti G35

My 2006 G35 sedan is the sickest car I have had yet. I added a cone free-flow filter and took out the original box. It sounds good. I also notice some more power. The Eibach springs really help for cornering and braking along with a very nice ride, the faster you go, the smoother it gets! The traction control works well with the drive-by-wire by cutting engine power to perfectly hold a turn, when it senses the tires are hooking up again, it hammers the power back in pushing you to your seat, getting your heart rate up, adrenaline flowing, and after the turn is over, the sweats and tingles! A wild rush. The seats are wonderful. Plenty of power. Gas mileage is not too good if you get on it!!

By far the nicest, and most comfortable SUV we have owned. Handles well, powerful, yet gentleon the bones. Have not had a chabce to test fuel economy yet, but who cares, we want comfort, response handling.
