Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

Ive had my M45 for about a couple months now and this car is a rocket. I really dont understand the "experts" saying its a ugly car. I get looks everywhere I go and people love it. Super fast!

I have owned a Lexus for many years, but became very unsatisfied with their cars and poor customer service. I looked at the SC430 and decided it was extremely overpriced and overrated. I looked at the 350Z, but still was not excited because of too many compromises. I then looked at the new Infiniti G35 coupe and began comparing. I bought the G35 coupe, with the manual 6 speed and leather package. It is an exceptional value. The quality of this Infiniti is much better than any Lexus I have owned. Also, the mark up is much smaller on the Infiniti, thus the resale price will be tremendously better. The G35 coupe has exceeded all of my expectations.

Just give a tiny bit more front room for bigger people. and upgrade the interior materials... too much plastic

  • Best Car I Have Ever Owned - 2013 Infiniti JX

I traded a 2012 MDX for the JX. I only had the MDX for a couple of months and got terrible gas mileage. "Just for fun" I test drove the JX. The rest is history. I absolutely love this car. Had it one month and find excuses to drive it. I very much like the transmission choices. I use the sport mode when starting off and then depending on whether Im on local roads or an interstate, shift the knob accordingly. While in eco drive I have already managed 24.6 MPG. I also find it much easier to drive than the MDX. My seating position gives me a better view of the road and the ride itself is smooth, quit and just plain relaxing.

  • G25x Nice Surprise - 2011 Infiniti G Sedan

After having owned many Audis over the last 15 yrs, I must say that I was pleasantly surprised with Infiniti. The features, handling, dealer service, built quality is awesome. I havent had the chance to really test the car car as it is still in its break in period. The car handles great, solid, top notch leather, and stereo. I dont miss the VW/Audi dealership service. I expect to make a lot less trips to the dealership.

Its alot of fun and I really enjoy the horsepower, low-end torque, and maneuverability. The sound system is awsome!

  • Practical and a Blast to Drive - 2005 Infiniti G35
    By -

This is truly a drivers car, but with enough practicality to function as a family car. Amazing performance, with the overall feel of a much more expensive car. Its a huge step up from a Maxima or I35, which are in the same price range. Unless you really must have front wheel drive, the G35 should be considered. Also considered the Cadilac CTS. A nice car, but there is less interior space, a higher price and the build quality is lower.

  • Great Car!! - 2003 Infiniti M45

I love this car. Awesome power, very tight stable ride. Dont understand all the auto magazine gripes: It takes all of 10 minutes to figure out the radio/climate controls, and then its completely intuitive! The car draws stares from loads of onlookers. I still have not seen another on the road, and while that made me a bit nervous , it does give it a real sense of exclusivity. Build quality is typical Infiniti (Wife has the QX-4). This is the first automatic Ive ever owned, but its nice, and the manual mode works better than I thought it would... If you like this car, drive it and buy it

  • Past 300ZX Owner, All Grown Up Now. - 2007 Infiniti G35
    By -

In my 20s and single, drove a 1994 300ZX manual, decked out leather. Now that its been 10+ years and I am 32, my tastes and styles have hopefully improved. My thirst for flat out, eye watering performance has only grown. My wifes toyota solara V6 was growing long in the tooth. As we looked for a new car, nothing made her really get excited, no matter the manufacturer or price range. I had shown her the Infiniti website and we were off to go find one. Once she saw the car and went for a spin. She loved it, I loved it. The car has intense performance and a refined style that seperates it from the cookie cutter Lexus and BMW set. If there is any question of safety and traction, go AWD.
