Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • 2003 G35 w/performance pkg - 2005 Infiniti G35

Had twin turbo Mitsu 3000 for 11 years before this. G35 is a sig step down in performance. Like rear wheel drive but tires narrow for weight of car, spinning out too easy. Ext. paint is cheap/thin and chips very easily. Interior plastic parts (changed to alum on 2004) are showing wear even though I baby it, damn cheap stuff. Is this a GM car? Dealer price on Brembo pads and rotors for care is almost $4,000. First and last Nissan product I buy. Next time Lexus, BMW or Merc. No place to plug my iPod, whats up with that? No bluetooth!! Paint on gear shift wore off under hand! Cheap cheap cheap. They lie about the gas mileage, really 23 highway, not 27

  • Its not a Honda... - 2003 Infiniti G35

The engine is bulletproof, but the rest of the car... well, it should be riddled with bullets. Everything is rattly and creaky after a year. Before this car, I had 4 Hondas/Acuras and none of them were like this. Moreover, I have had a blown out speaker since the first month I had it, and no Infiniti dealership will replace a door speaker! Agh!

  • Too much maintenance - 2005 Infiniti G35

At 16k miles new brakes. At 22k another set in back. At 23k all new tires. Bad mileage for fuel. Its my fourth and last infiniti. Too expensive to own and run, but a great looking car.

  • Fun gas guzzler - 2007 Infiniti G35

I had this car for 3 weeks now and like the cars performance overall. I wish it had more torque like the lexus. The lexus is350 had a stronger motor and was more comfortable inside. The bmw was just an overall nicer car. I guess you get what ya pay for. The g35 also has hard seats and loves to burn fuel. I get about 15-16 mpg around town. The g35 doesnt handle as well as a bmw in high winds or at high speeds. It gets loose in the turns at high speeds. Sure hope gas prices dont climb again.

  • Infiniti Hush Money? - 2009 Infiniti G37
    By -

Right after I purchased a 2009 G37 Convertible, I noticed that there was persistent creaking coming from both sides of the rear portion of the hardtop. That night, I put the top down and up, and noticed that the trunk was opened afterward, so I closed it manually. The next morning, I approached my car in the garage to find the trunk opened again. 2 days later, the engine refused to go past 10 mph and the Engine Light was on so I was forced to bring it into the dealership. Its since been over 30 days and Infiniti has tried to solve the problem twice to no avail. I still dont have my car. Most of all, Im wondering where the other bad reviews are? Can anyone say Infiniti Hush Money?

  • Mechanical Nightmare - 2001 Infiniti I30

Bought the car in 05 from Team Nissan in Oxnard, CA. They failed to inform me car had been in an accident. (Hood didnt have VIN, etc) Put 80k on it in four years, but didnt have it running for 18 months of that. Replaced wheel bearings, two new alternators, VSS sensor, starter, ignition, radiator... Fine when you punch it, but very heavy otherwise. 05 Altima V6 tromps this car with offline and during-driving quickness(but with only 23 more hp). I like the exterior and interior, but leather seats cracking, clock wand rattles, wind noise from back window, paint fading horribly. Wanted an Infiniti from day one, only enjoyed it for a year then it became a $ black hole. F You, Team Infiniti!

  • MY LOANER WAS BUILT BETTER - 2003 Infiniti G35

THE REASON IM ON THIS SITE IS TO SEE IF I CAN SELL IT AND BREAK EVEN... RECALLS, OMINOUS SQUEEKING IN A WHEEL THAT SERVICE WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE, A DASH BOARD THAT IS FALLING OUT OF THE FRAME, PLASTIC ON PLASTIC CREAKING, INSTRUMENT PANEL "GLASS CRACKING, TRIM FALLING OFF COMPLETELY, ELECTRICAL ISSUES AND TRULY OPEC-PLEASING GAS EFFICIENCY...BUT ITS BEAUTIFUL TO LOOK AT!

  • North Houston Infiniti Lemon - 2004 Infiniti G35
    By -

Purchased G35 8 months ago, has approx. 8500 miles and major electrical problems. Has been at dealership for a total of 21 days, I have taken it in 3 times and was told it was fixed!! NOT North Houston Infiniti has offered me no relief!!!! Only grief! Have applied with state for Lemon relief. I know these are good cars, I just happened to get a bad one. Dont Buy at North Houston Infiniti they do not care after you have signed on the dotted line

  • VERY UNRELIABLE - 2002 Infiniti I35
    By -

I have had problems with the car since I purchased it. Its been recalled twice. The car stalls when Im driving or stopping, it bucks when driving at high speeds then feels like its going to stall out on me. My wife will not drive the car anymore because she is afraid. The infiniti has been in and out of many service centers and they cannot find the problem.

  • Drives well but interior quality is bad - 2004 Infiniti G35
    By -

I spent a lot of time comparing and researching cars before buying the G35 Sedan last year, and I am very dissapointed with my choice. Dont get me wrong the main reason for buying this car was drivability - and this car drives very well. However I paid $35000 (paying more to get the excellent Bose stereo), and I am amazed that the interior materials are so cheap and the build quality so poor that even with Bass at zero every song is accompanied by annoying rattles from the door panel in my left ear. I have taken the car in several times, but they dont seem to be able to fix the problem. My last car was a VW GTi which was a lot less expensive but the interior had a superior fit and finish.
