Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Best Most Versatile Large Luxury SUV - 2010 Infiniti QX56

I have always owned sports cars and this is my first SUV due to the fact I now have 3 kids, 2 car seats and a booster seat. I am very picky when it comes to cars and I test drove every large luxury SUV on the market, Escalade, Denai, Sequoia, etc... I wanted something luxury on the inside, that could haul lots of people and gear, plus I like AWD for safety and wanted something I could go off road with that actually has a locking differential with true 4x4 high and low. This truck has it all, its rugged off road, can tow 9000 lbs, crazy technology and luxury and being my first SUV this thing handles and rides better that any large luxury SUV. This truck is the best kept secret out there!

nice car but expensive with all options. aero package should be a must but the navigation is fun to use but not essential. Paid MRSP

I was torn between the Nissan 350Z and the Infiniti G35C, so I put deposits down on both. A couple of months later, the dealers got in test cars & I test drove them the same day. Both drove fantastic. There was very little difference in handling between the two. Each model had its own plusses and minuses: the 350Z had a more aggressive styling and more people took notice of it; the G35C had more trunk space, a usable back seat, a sunroof, and less visibility problems than the 350Z. But, in the end, I would have been happy with either one -- I would accept whichever car came in first, which turned out to be the G35C.

  • Probably the best car in its class - 2015 Infiniti Q50

A lot of reviewers and car magazines like to brag on and on about the road feel and handling of a BMW 3 series. But most people in the real world arent driving their car on a racetrack, a mountain road or trying to set a lap time. The Audi A4 doesnt even compare to this car in any way. This is more spacious, more powerful, and the quality of the material and fit and finish is on par. The S4 however, is a better car. The same story with the 3-series. When compared to a 328, the Q50 is definitely the better car. A 335 is a better performance machine, but the ride and comfort is sacrificed in the name of performance. If youre looking for a great balance of luxury and sport, but you dont want to fork over $50k or more (Audi S4, BMW 335i, etc.) This is the best car in its class.

  • Fun to Drive - Just a Little Cramped - 2008 Infiniti G35

Superb acceleration and holds the road well. A good looking car with features you cant find at the price. I chose this over the Acura TL. The TL is a quieter driving experience but it doesnt have the raw power and machismo of the G35.

  • Great car, very fast + lots of fun - 2007 Infiniti M45
    By -

After test driving almost every model made by BMW, Mercedes, Audi & Lexus, I was surprised that the Infiniti M45 was the most comfortable, fun to drive and intelligently designed of the bunch. I wanted a 4-door sedan, so during the test drive I put my 63" son in the back seat and he had plenty of leg & headroom (not the case with the BMW 5 or 7 series, nor the Mercedes E or S Series). The electronic systems are easy to use - I pretty much had it down after the first drive. Its a really fast car - in fact, Ive had to talk my way out of two speeding tickets in the year Ive owned it. No problems whatsoever, great sound system (I got the sport model with the nav/tech package).

  • New model glitches - 2005 Infiniti QX56

Love the Q56. Has everything we wanted. Plenty of interior room, great design, lots of flexibility, extremely comfortable, handles like a luxury sedan. No buyers remorse here.

  • Japanese Muscle Car - 2006 Infiniti G35
    By -

Ownership period-2months milage driven - 1000 mi. Car is definitely a looker. Styling is very mature and will age well. Still in break in period but can feel the engine has immense torque reserves for a V6, and do not doubt the upper end hp. rush due to the smootheness of Nissans VQ series engine. Handling is netural and precise with no front end ploughing or rear end losseness. Steering a tad heavy but lighten up nicely at speeds. With the 17 wheels & long w/base, ride is more supple and comfortable than expected. Car is more elemental and raw in nature compared to a Lexus/Acura. Almost like a very well build Japanese muscle car.

  • Great Sports Sedan - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

What a great value for a sports sedan. What a wonderful car to drive that just gets better and better. Looked at all the offerings in a sports sedan, but couldn’t justify the arm and the leg more for the 5 series BMW. The power is great and the manual just brings it out. A perfect car for us guys who wants to control, not to be controlled.
