Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Best car yet! - 2008 Infiniti G35

I had been wanting a G35 for a while and read many reviews. I was very apprehensive to buy one because everyone complained about the gas mileage. I get at least 23-25 mpg. This car is great!! I had a 2006 Mercedes C230 previously. I love this car so much more. It is beautiful inside and out. It is sporty, yet classy car.

I have owned my 2008 G37S since October 2007. It has been a very reliable car and, unlike a BMW, I dont see my car every day on my commute to and from work. It is great to drive on two-lane country roads or interstate highways. The trunk is small but the seat back folds down allowing suitcases and several cases of wine to be carried home returning from a vacation in the Finger Lakes region.

It is great to drive on two-lane country roads or interstate highways. The only update I want to make to this review now that the car will be ten years old in October is: I want to keep it another ten years! Rear-wheel drive, manual transmission, beautiful styling and as I stated above, a car one does not see every day several times on a commute to and from work: What choices do I have if I want to buy a new car?

  • Fabulous Car!! - 2003 Infiniti G35

Had my laser red coupe for less than a week but know I made the right decision! Tested every other car in the price range nothing compares, BMW3 series and Mercedes C class eat you heart out!! T- bird and 350Z, cant hold one normal size suitcase much less two!! The perfect combo of sports car with some practicality. Performance is awesome. 280 HP is nothing but fun!! I drive lots of miles in my job and encounter all sorts of driving situations, traffic, freeway, stop and go. This car does it all beautifully.

  • Awesome G35 - 2003 Infiniti G35

Great car, very fast, tight steering, nice interior, roomy, nice trunk, & did I say fast? The G35 is a great car for the $$$. BMW, Lexus, Acura Type-S have to catch up. The car is very smooth and the Sport Package is a must!! The Navi is great but needs a mute button.

  • Stop looking and buy this car! - 2005 Infiniti G35

I looked at a BMW 3 series, a Lexus GS300 and this car. As soon as I drove it I fell in love! It is unbelievably powerful. It made the Beamer feel like a toy car, and of course the Lexus doesnt even compare. And yet, it is the ultimate LUXURY car! I feel like Im driving a Cadillac. Every imaginable comfort and gadget comes standard! And the price... OH THE PRICE! Not only the purchase price, but its Japanese, so the cost of owning is WAY less than a BMW! The only negative is the fuel economy (around 20 miles a gallon, but its my fault because I cant help but keep pedal to the metal.) Its a gorgeaus car and SO fun to drive. Quit looking! You NEED this car.

A comfortable, roomy car with very good acceleration when needed and good gas mileage for size. Front wheel drive (with winter tires) handles Canadian winter roads well.

  • G35x Best of all worlds!! - 2005 Infiniti G35

First, I am 64" so I dont have the pick of all great sports cars. However, I am very comfortable in the G35x (its larger than the 325ix) -- it handles great and its incredibly fast. Living in Rockland County, NY where it snows alot, all wheel drive gives me the best of both worlds, excellent rear wheel drive handling and AWD when you need it.

  • Great but needs some work - 2009 Infiniti G37

Love the car, having some small issues, wondering if Im the only one. Had two experiences when I got to the car and it was dead....had great difficulty in jumping it, going back to dealer again this week...I think its a key/chip recognition matter. But the cars a hoot to drive.
