Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Great Car - 2002 Infiniti I35

This is a great car. I had this car for about 3 yrs now and I only had some minor problems considering that I have 130000 miles on it. Gas mileage is pretty good. With 255 hp it is extremely fast. Very well built and looks nice. Infiniti is a great car and I think they should make an I45, I know its going to be a beast.

  • Awesome Car ! - 2006 Infiniti G35

Absolutely recommend this awesome car to anyone looking for a luxury coupe with a 350Z under its skin! Im 6 foot 2+ and 230 lbs. and extremely comfortable in either front seat.My buddy drove it recently and said it had better acceleration and handling and was more comfortable and roomier than his 7 Series Sport BMW! Upscale yet affordable ... it doesnt get better than this!

  • XENON LIGHTS - 2004 Infiniti G35
    By -

This car has one major flaw which has disappointed us so much so we will never buy another Infiniti (weve owned several). Our Xenon headlights have been stolen from our car for the 2nd time in less than 6 months. Nissan knew of this problem way back... and supposedly made changes to their 2004 Nissan Maxima... however, Infiniti (which is Nissan) produced the 2004 G- 35 with the same theft friendly lights. We were not advised of this problem and feel quite indignant that Nissan/Infiniti has known about this problem yet continues to profit from the sale of expensive replacement lights. Ours hasnt been the only G in the neighborhood with stolen lights mutltiple times.

  • Supra of 21st Century - 2004 Infiniti G35
    By -

Ive always wanted a Supra since 1993. Well, not that its gone, I was searching something to replace. BMW 3 nah. Overpriced w/ OK performancen and too many people have it. Audi TT. nah. Too small and bug-looking. RX-8. nah. Weird engine and weird backdoor. Nissan Z350. nah. No back seat. Now G35 (Skyline). Since the time I saw this car for the first time. I gotta say, I love almost everything about it. Awesome power, smooth ride, tight handling, & eye-turning design. What else can you say? Ive done some modifications (clear corners, racing pedals... etc.) and it looks even better!!! Im not depressed anymore about the discontinuation of Supra.

  • 04 G35 Coupe Rocks! - 2004 Infiniti G35
    By -

When I first was car shopping i was interested in but dissapointed by the Nissan Z. The G35 coupe made up for everything i didnt like about the Z incl. backseat, sunroof and importantly visibility. This car is fast, performs when you want it to and is stylish. I would recommend it to anyone one. I just hope its ok in the snow since im in CT! Because of all the safety features in the car, i also had a very minor increase in insurance. Lastly, i recommend the body side molding to people, especially if you are paranoid like me about dings in the door. Even though ive had the car for 2 weeks, i love it!

  • M35 - Great Car for Non-Soccer Phase - 2007 Infiniti M45
    By -

We purchased an M35 for our new "non-soccer parents" phase of our life (were in our late 40s). After ~6 weeks of driving we are extremely pleased with the comfort and performance (not surprising considering our last vehicle was a Toyota Sienna minivan). The disappointment is the mileage is at the low end of its rating (were getting ~20 mpg when gas is >$3/gallon!). We test drove the Lexus GS 350, Mercedes E350 and Acura RL. The M has the comfort and peformance we wanted.

  • Happy Owner - 2007 Infiniti G35

I love my car. Test drove BMW 330i, VW Passat, Acura TL, Subaru Outback, Toyota Camry, Nissan Altima. I made my mind up after only one visit and one test drive. Love the looks car inside and out. Drives great and many fun features. I have over 1500 miles and I can find a few suggested improvements, but even with those I would not trade it for another car.

  • Disaster JX35 - 2013 Infiniti JX
    By -

Our new JX 35 upon delivery wipers did not work. Then recalled for rotor or front end problem. Then on 10/20/13 electrical system failed entirely. Towed to dealer on 11/5/13 upon return from a trip to CA. Now 11/10/13 and no sign of repair ever being completed. Had been told 2 days now 8days !! Contacted Infiniti USA and requested replacement with a brand new comparable vehicle. Beielve that by now Infiniti should have contaced dealership to authorize buy back trade. We are willing to go MSRP by MRSP differential as a fair basis for a replacement with at least the same accessories.
