Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

I really like this car. A lot comparisons to BMW but I see way too many 3 series. I really enjoy driving the car.

  • Factory Paint Defects - 2014 Infiniti QX60

BUYER BEWARE!!!. The test of a great company is when they have to deal with a customer issue and how they resolve the issue and make the customer a long time loyal customer. Just bought a brand new Infiniti 2014 QX60 in January 2015 with less than 525 miles (the car was delivered with the paint issues) and found manufacturer paint defect issues and Infiniti Affairs has refused to repurchase or trade out the vehicle and have not accepted responsibility for their paint defects. Infiniti Corp has also ignored the dealer, Infiniti of Dayton, who agreed and provided documentation to the BBB that there are manufacturers defects in the paint. Infiniti Corps response is "we will cover the costs

The sport edition has some great features. For the price, this is a great car that is fun to drive. Just as previous reviews, it would be even more fun with a larger engine. But with a 5 speed manual, it keeps up or even beats my fiancees 2003 Mercedes c230 Kompressor sedan with 190 supercharged horses. So, a 10 second 0-60 time sounds about 2 seconds off for the manual version. Handling for a sedan is tops. No problems yet.

  • 99 Limited very fun - 1999 Infiniti I30

Bought this for $10500 out the door and can easily say this is an excellent deal. It has high mileage at 81000, but the engine and tranny are both very smooth. My brother has an 03 Maxima SE, and I find both cars very similar. I like my interior a lot better of course, but mine is obviously slower. The pro lem is is that both receive the same gas mileage, even though the Maxima has a bigger engine with more HP. Overall, I love this car, and think its one of the best investments Ive ever made.

  • is it worth the name? - 2001 Infiniti QX4

Initially rode like a luxury vehicle should but as the miles accumulated, it is similar in ride to the Pathfinder, more like a truck. Has a similar shimmy when braking and on the highway that was a problem with my previous Pathfinder.

  • WOW - 2007 Infiniti G35

First of all, before I begin my review I have to confess that this is my first "luxury sport" purchase. I drove a Saturn prior to buying this car and man it was like a quantum jump onto another planet of driving. Before I purchased this vehicle, I test drove the BMW 330i and Audi A4/S4. For the price, this car just absolutely rocks. If you are a spirited driver and dont mind the 6-speed, I definitely recommend it. Infiniti has revised the interior to be much more pampering, somewhat comparable to a Lexus. I got the Sport 6MT with the premium package (major perk is that it adds the Bose Surround Sound System). Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase.

  • Major problem with this car - DO NOT BUY THE HYBRID!! - 2014 Infiniti QX60
    By -

I bought a 2014 Infiniti QX60 Hybrid two months ago in March 2014. I immediately noticed that I am getting a combined 15 mpg on the trip computer (not the 25/28 mpg as advertised). After having the Infiniti dealer (Infiniti Manhasset) tell me there is nothing they can do, I reached out to Infiniti USA. They asked that I do a manual calculation by tracking how many miles I have driven on the odometer and how many gallons of gas it takes to fill up from the last fill up. After going through this exercise, the calculation was still right around 15 mpg (15.4 mpg to be exact). Infiniti USA told me yesterday that there is nothing they can do to help me . Is anyone else having this problem?

  • Its More Than I Expected! - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

I own a G35 Sedan equipped with prem. pkg., mud guards, wood interior and satellite radio. Shopped and driven MB C Class, and BMW "3" and "5" series. The G35 caught me completely off guard...I had no intention of purchasing a new car that day, I drove off 3 hours later with it. Accelleration/handling unbelievable. Driver comfort restricted by seat controls on the seat, yet the seat supported my back and thighs quite well. Quiet, responsive, luxurious, and fit better (Im 62", 240 lbs) than BMW 3 series or MB C Class. Sound system (Bose 200 watt) best Ive encountered and coupled with XM digital radio, theres nothing better available!

  • Infiniti revolutionized the sport sedan - 2007 Infiniti G35
    By -

WOW, Someone please pinch me. I test drove the Lexus GS 350, Acura TL, and BMW 328i and none compare to the Infiniti G35. The guys at Infiniti created an Isetoner glove with style, handling, luxury, around a powerplant that is like a cheetah on steroids. Needless to say, I bought it after I test drove it. Exhaust sound is a 10.
