Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Love it! - 2008 Infiniti QX56

The most comfortable, powerful, well equipped SUV that I have ever owned and I have owned them all. Highly recommended, unless you are not a fan of the gas pump.

  • 2005 Electrical Problems - 2005 Infiniti QX56
    By -

We had this vehilce for 4 days when we ran out of gas due to a faulty electrical system (the gauge read full). Since 4/05, when we bought it new, we have had the brakes replaced, the rotors replaced, and more work done to the electrical system (on several occassions). I would not recommend this vehicle to anyone.

  • I will buy another Infinity - 2002 Infiniti I35
    By -

I purchased my Infinity in December of 2001 - the car is a 2002 though. It is now 2015 and Im still driving my Infinity. She has 229,000 miles on her and she still runs great! I still have the same engine and transmission in her. I will definitely buy another Infinity.

  • Dream car...dealership experience not luxurious - 2018 Infiniti QX60
    By -

I wanted this car so bad. Now I have it and Im over it. Would turn in now however, I know my husband will be irritated with me as Ive begged him to get me this car. Heres the thing, Ive driven Cadillacs, Mercedes, Lincolns... This car is very comfortable for our family, especially for the price. My issue is with the dealerships. I miss the Lincoln dealership experience so much! The other luxury companies offer complimentary maintenance why doesnt INFINITI? Sorry Infiniti but this is why as soon as I can I will be leaving for the new Navigator or Escalade. Theres no way om earth that i would upgrade to the qx80 and not have the same luxury dealer experience that the other companies offer. I literally felt like I was back at the pontiac dealership from my college days... not a good thing for a "luxury" company. This may be the reason you had to offer huge discounts on your vehicles as there arent many of them on the road. ;-)... Im over INFINITI experience such a rip off plus the technology Infiniti vehicles are several years behind the times.

  • Rust and Dealer Service - 2002 Infiniti QX4
    By -

purchased the vehicle new- love it but dealer service and backing leave a lot. Had it in for new wheels as the old bubbled and were replaced, no problem. Asked to check brakes- OK. Less than 3000 miles later- new brakes, rotors etc. Told underneath lots of rust- I asked why? They had no answer. Less than 1000 miles later, needed rear muffler due to underneath rust. Unfortunately, now out of time on warranty (miles are way under). Even with extended Infiniti warranty neither Infiniiy nor the dealer will address why there is so much rust underneath the vehicle. It has been no other places that any other vehicle I have owned has been. Love the SUV but probably will not buy another Infinity.

  • Thinking twice about Infiniti - 2001 Infiniti I30
    By -

Bought this car after my SC400 was totaled. Had about 100K on it or so. Performance is decent but coming from a RWD V8 to a FWD V6 was a little disappointing. Dont get me wrong I love my I30, but its conditional love. This car has been an absolute nightmare. The VSS was replaced twice, MAF sensor is prone to replacement, ECM burned up due to sudden fault in the Idle Control. Suspension is very soft even for a sedan. Besides this long list of expensive i mean very expensive repairs, I enjoy driving this car. It has a very responsive throttle and gets attention where ever it goes.

  • Closest car (under 35k) to perfection - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

This car is almost perfect. Design is new and refreshing, quality and performances are top-notch. Equipement is numerous and excellent (Bose, heated seats, Xenon headlights....).

  • Amazing Vehicle - 2004 Infiniti G35
    By -

I have 15,000 miles on my coupe and like it more each day. Have had no problems with it. Makes my daily commute something to look forward to.

  • 2004 G35X AWD Infiniti - 2004 Infiniti G35
    By -

Lets get down to details, 34K out of the showroom with premium package, XM and tinting. This is the AWD version which drives like a champ. I looked at a Acura TL (2004), no movement with price (33.5K). My dealership experience was straightforward and pleasant. I got the car I wanted and Im very happy with it performance. The AWD is not intrusive and my dead stop acceleration blows away most all the cars out there. Merging onto freeway traffic is a snap. I have to watch my speedometer because getting past 80mph is effortless. This is a very fine product by Infiniti.

  • Exhilarating - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

What a phenomenal package of performance, luxury, looks, quality, reliability and price! Way to go Infiniti. They should have given this car its own letter of the alphabet, because G is where the similarity ends between the outgoing G20 and the up and coming G35. This car is awesome. Lets call it the A35.
