Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • To many rattles - 2005 Infiniti QX56
    By -

This suv has an overhead console that does nothing but rattle. The noise is so intense that I can not enjoy the true fun of driving this vehicle. In addition the drivers seat offers very little support,it seems to cavein rather than support.Since I took ownership I have had to have the rotors cut on three different occasions. In short, as for quality, this vehicle leaves a lot to be desired.

  • I dont miss the BMW! - 2004 Infiniti QX56

We were on our way to see an used LX and decided to stop by this inf. dealer just to take a quick look at the new QX since we are far away from the dealer and hadnt got a chance to see it. The next thing we know, our year- long search for a SUV ended there two hours later; we left the dealer with a piece of signed paper in hands. We have owned it for three months now and had a 1200 miles trip with six peopke inside (nobody complained). Many good things have been said already, not need to repeat. Just want to say that before this QX we had a van, me and my husband often faught for our other car, a BMW; but now any of us will be happy to take the truck. :)

  • Awesome - 2004 Infiniti G35

Would buy the car again. Wanted a japanese sports coupe 2+2. Owned a 1984 Toyota Celica GTS which was a fantastic car, but the newer Celicas did not have very much back seat leg room. Found the G35 Coupe had the best among the cars I was reviewing. Very fun car to drive and constantly get compliments on the car.

  • Good but not great. - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

Bought used w/ 100K miles after my other car was totaled in a wreck. Overall, a very fast RWD car that looks good and has a solid, reliable 3.5L Nissan powertrain. Nice seats, good visibility. Combined MPG is 21-22, but Ive nursed it to 28-29hwy. Push it and youll see 15-17mpg real quick though. Overall a fun car to drive, looks good, and is reliable enough for me (Im a salesman and drive a lot). Ive heard of people getting 250k miles on theirs, which is good to know. There are some design flaws and electrical issues which are inexcusable though.

  • Love my car - 2005 Infiniti QX56

I had not planed to buy a new car this year, but with a little free time on my hands, I began to compare SUVs. I drove them all, every one. I was so impressed with the Infinity Q56 and the soft sell of the representative the cleanliness and order of the dealer. Before I knew it I had made a purchase , and I have not been displeased

  • Best car by far... - 2003 Infiniti Q45
    By -

I have owned a couple luxury cars in the past, including a 1993 Lexus LS400, a 2000 BMW 5-series. The Lexus was a great, reliable car, but was about as exciting to drive as watching the seniors amateur golf classic. The 5 series was just the opposite: fun to drive but not as well put-together (in the shop 4 times in my 2 years of ownership). The new Q45 trumps both of these cars as the best compromise between the two: awesome performance in the lap of luxury... but also well put-together. This car will easily last me a good 7-10 years.

  • New gearing makes all the difference - 2003 Infiniti Q45
    By -

Ive owned three Infiniti Q45s, and have loved every one of them. The folks at Infiniti have really outdone themselves this time. I drove the 2002 model when it first came out, and really loved it... but I must admit the acceleration didnt impress like I thought it would. I read that the gearing would be improved for 2003, so I waited. Another test drive and I was sold. You can really feel the difference. The feeling of your internal organs being compressed against your spine is like none other. Infiniti makes the best cars, hands down, and this one is the creme de la creme.

  • great car,great price - 2002 Infiniti I35

This car is great fun to drive, and is loaded with many options standard. The acceleration is class leading, and I would reccomend this car to anyone.

  • What a dissapointment - 2014 Infiniti QX60
    By -

I purchased a 2014 QX60 two months ago. . In the 8 weeks that I’ve owned the car, it has been in for service 4 times due to design, manufacturing and workmanship issues from both Infiniti and the dealer. First is a harness issue on the windshield. Was fixed, then fell off again after the dealer left fingerprints all over my car. Then the driver side heat and heated seat did not work. It was supposedly fixed, but the day we got it back, the heat was still broken, the steering wheel was misaligned and have had issues with gears getting stuck when trying to shift. The topper was today, when the dealer picked up the car to fix the heat and the car literally sputtered out of my driveway.

  • You arent getting my G from Me! - 2001 Infiniti G20
    By -

Infiniti only made this car for a few years, so finding one in good shape was hard. I purchased mine in 6/06 with 54K. Ive since logged 16K on the car and the only maintenance was new brakes, oil changes and a power window switch. The car is plush, comfortable, handles well, sips gas and is great to drive. The engine is peppy, but could be more powerful. The Bose stereo is great, but whats up with the cup holder?
