Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • The car that put me down - 1998 Infiniti Q45
    By -

My second week in this car, only 30,000 miles the alternator went out and car stops with absolutely no warning lights or anything comes to a dead stop on a major highway which is heavily traveled by 18 wheelers. Thank God Im here to tell the story. If you have a choice in cars, do not... I repeat do not get an Infiniti.

  • Great so far - 2009 Infiniti G37

Bought my 09 G37x coupe used with 31K mi, very sporty, engine is ferocious, the power doesnt drop off until you hit non-legal speeds. Doesnt have the razor sharp handling of my 06 G35 Coupe, but its very close and has a smoother, more compliant ride that soaks up bumps very well. Interior with Bose, navigation, and rear view camera is great! I love this car!

  • Bang for the buck - 2003 Infiniti G35

Hard to believe a car this nice is this cheap. You will likely pay MSRP for a 6-spd coupe, but it is still far and away the best value in this price range. I have had this car for 5 1/2 months and put on 11,500 miles. No problems so far, and I am averaging about 20 mpg for my normal commute/city driving. Road trips I get about 26 with cruise set to 80 and the A/C on. If you want to blend in, this is not the car for you. Its amazing how much attention this car gets. Stoplights, gas stations, drive-thru windows, whatever - people are always asking me questions about it.

  • Best in Its class - 2006 Infiniti M45
    By -

I must say I LOOOOVEE my new M45 Sedan. I opted for the Premium Pack. Sedan then the sport. Not to much difference really in suspension from what Id seen during test drive. But you cant get the heated and reclining seats in the M45 Sport. For the money the performance, design, and technology are the best out of BMW, Audi, Acura, and Lexus. If you want a performing luxury sedan go with the Infiniti M. Its nice to be able to take a 530i BMW at the stop light and win!!! And as for the lexus GS430, you can leave them in your dust Too. INFINITI, It seems Ive become a definite part of the Family. This is my third car with them and they just keep getting better with every year and model.

  • Its a beast - 2008 Infiniti QX56
    By -

Just bought this beast a couple weeks ago and love it. My wife carts the kids around in it mostly but I have had some fun in it too. Very easy to drive and tons more room than the Escalade ESV. Gonna cost me a ton in gas - wish they had the Flex Fuel option. From last year, they added a heated steering wheel, automatic fold down third row (folds flat), 10 GB hard drive, compact flash drive, aux jack for iPods, MP3 players, etc., and bigger 20" wheels.

  • Q50 All options - 2015 Infiniti Q50

19 inch wheel option is a must. Technology package is very cool. Fun sedan. Gets lots of looks and compliments. My car is not a hybrid as shown above. Dont know where Edmunds got that. It is naturally aspired 3.7L, V-6 motor. Same motor as in Nissan 370Z.

  • Wifes trash is my treasure... - 2000 Infiniti I30
    By -

Took 00 I30t from wife, for whom I just bought silky-smooth, quiet 07 Lexus ES 350 because she hates noisy, bumpy I30 that she drove 6 yrs. I love this deal! (So does she!) I value perf, handling, luxury & style, which I30 has plenty. High wind noise is no issue because I play loud metal on excellent Bose stereo. Wife treated it like baby, garaged it, so its immaculate. After recent extensive prev maint, fixing silly trash can lid dash compartment, & installing hi-perf tires, its LIKE NEW. Other than bad alt & occaisional coil misfire (we replaced all coils), it has been very reliable. Interior is spacious and luxurious. My car status is now excellent! I plan to drive it many more years.

  • This is the Most Enjoyable SUV to Have - 2000 Infiniti QX4
    By -

I have to honestly tell you, that I really Love my QX4 and it is very very dependable with no repairs so far and it so sturdy on the highways. I love to drive this SUV on the highways since the seats are comfortable and the car rides very smooth and is very easy to handle. The styling is unmistakably luxiurious as it was the first luxury suv and the build quality is fanastic. I highly recommend people to buy these QX4s as well as the all new Infiniti FX35, because these SUV have a great reliablity, fun-factors, styling, and a decent price for what they offer.
