Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Best car out of Japan - 2006 Infiniti G35

Coming from a 350z I had for 4 years, I wanted something more comfortable. I test drove the Lexus GS 430, Porsche Cayenne S and Audi A4 3.2 quattro. They were all nice, but were all lacking something. I just happened to see the G35c on the lot. After sitting in it, I knew it was the one. It was one of the most comfortable seats I ever sat in. The driveability of Nissan/Infiniti has always been top notch. They always provide the best driver feedback and the G35c was no different. It is so smooth to drive, there is nothing jerky about this car. You would swear you were in a full blown luxury car and it has a nice wad of power on tap. A perfect blend of luxury, power and class.

  • Best Bang for Buck Luxury Sport Coupe - 2008 Infiniti G37

This car performs amazingly well for a luxury car. It is fast and fun, but still has that "executive" feel of a luxury car. I love that by getting just the Premium Pkg, you essentially get all of the goodies that I wanted and can keep the price of this car around $37K. There really are only a couple of RWD luxury sport coupes available with a stick under $50K, and this is by far the best deal. As good as a Bimmer (I drove each several times) for about $10K less.

  • Killer deal - 2005 Infiniti G35

It accelerates like the space shuttle, corners like a Lamborghini and cradles one in comfort like an old recliner.

  • Timing is everything - 2015 Infiniti Q50
    By -

2015 Q50 Sport model. Sticker price over 49k but under $390/mo with under 3000 upfront money including taxes. I think low price reflects Infinity unloading 2015s to make room for 2016s. That will be my strategy from now on. My prior lease was 2014 Lexus IS 250. This Infinity blows that car away with size, power (duh), comfort and superior navigation and radio features. Seats 5, but middle of rear seat over drive shaft is way too high and uncomfortable for anyone unlucky enough to be sitting there for an extended drive. Climate control seems pretty accurate with transition from cold weather to unseasonably warm weather happening with minimal input on my part. I always felt comfortable. Cant say anything about mpg since I havent had the car long enough. The mpg are climbing steadily and it looks like I can get to 25 mpg without much effort. Something I could not do in my Lexus no matter how hard I tried. The 5 drive modes are pretty cool with sport mode pushing out some hefty acceleration with a bit of a throaty roar from the exhaust (were not talking Mustang roar here though). The economy mode (where I do most of my driving), looks like I can get up to 30 mpg...but well see about that. All in all, Im pretty happy with the car.

  • Great Ride - 2002 Infiniti QX4

I have had this SUV for just over a year and still love driving it. I am 6 0" and if I were any taller it would be a tight fit, but it fits me perfect. It has plenty of power, a smooth ride and a great interior. We had to replace a steering joint and the gas tank, yes the gas tank, when we bought it, but other than that it has no problems.

  • The Best Value - 1999 Infiniti I30
    By -

I bought this car as a my daily driver w/121K miles on it. I put around 15K miles in a year and half. The car drives quiet and smooth. There are all kinds of luxury options that are standard in this car. Everyday I find some new cool feature about this. If youre in the used car market, this is the car. The package you get for the avg. sale price on this car is incredible.

  • Three weeks in...... - 2016 Infiniti Q50
    By -

I cant speak to reliability after just three weeks, but I can say this car is fast, fun and holds the road. I have black on black and it turns heads. The reviews are correct: there is no turbo lag. The steering is a little different feel, but Im coming out of 15 yrs of SUV driving. My son is a catcher and that huge baseball bag fits easily in the trunk. The dealership has been great thus far.

  • Watch out for Mice! - 2007 Infiniti QX56
    By -

Leased QX56 in June 07. Had Continental Tires on it and ride was noisey and rough. All the doors rattled and windows did the same. All the door hinges & strikers misaligned and had to be realigned. Gas mileage 11 in city 17 on highway, but expected. Interior exceptional but Nav is awful. Two voices and one you cant hardly understand. This is a 39 month lease with 45,000 mi.Recently just after starting vehicle the 4WD, SLIP, VDC, and ABS idiot lights came on! Took vehicle to dealer and their findings indicated that the sensor had an open circuit, they found wiring Harness damage to the L/F sensor. They claim wires were eaten by a mouse? Wire covered with a plastic cable? Want $300+ to fix!
