Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Horrible Quality - 2004 Infiniti G35

I bought a 2004 G35 in January. It has been back to the dealer five times already, for unplanned work. The window started rattling and required a fix. Then the dash started popping and required a fix. Then the fix on the window required re-work. Then the carpet came unglued. Then the CD played died. Now the check engine light is on. I sold a 13-year old BMW with 190,000 miles to get the G35, and the BMW was much more reliable. Its too bad, because this is a great deal otherwise. If only the quality matched the deal!

  • Buy a G. - 2004 Infiniti G35

Smooth ride with lots of punch available all across the rev range. Stereo upgrade nice but roll down those windows and let in that beautiful exhaust note. Sporty, but not over the top. This is pure adult fun.

  • Pound for pound a great car. - 2005 Infiniti G35

I had a 1998 Maxima SE and I just traded in my 2002 Maxima SE for the 6MT G35. This truly represents what a sports sedan is all about, nothing is compromised in this car. Style, room and performance....I really thought I was not missing much from the 02 Maxima...but was I wrong. Handling is amazing and to have rwd again is bliss. Someone asked me why I just didnt get another Maxima or a Acura TL and I started to explain, then I thought if I have to explain, they will never get it.

  • That gas mileage!!! - 2018 Infiniti QX60

Reluctantly I settled in this car because it is bigger and lot cheaper than my previous ride because my wife and kid like the style. Having driven 700+miles, I recently noticed that it is giving me 14.5 mpg. The sticker stats 19 city and 26 freeway but I am getting 14.5. This is what the onboard display says, not my guesstimate. Now I find myself refilling once a week. My last car had a lot more horse power than this pos and gave me a solid 23 to 24. Dealership will look into it and I may provide an update later. Meanwhile, I would love to hear what others are getting. Thanks.

  • After 2 years - 2003 Infiniti QX4

We use it for highway driving and it handles extremely well for long distance driving. It has ample power and is very conmfortable. You can load 4 golf bags and 4 or 5 suitcases in the back with the seats down. No problems after 50000 miles.

  • Uncomfortable - 2001 Infiniti I30

Nice car, but very uncomfortable on long drives. Cannot adjust seating to maintain comfort. Im not an old guy either.

  • Glad I didnt get the vette! - 2003 Infiniti G35

Since I bought the car I have never been pulled over some many times in my life... that is by BMW and Mercedes owners wanting to know about the car. A typical reaction is " Damn! what is it and where can I get one!". The car is great. Its quick, powerful and agile. It attracts corvettes like flies. It will seat four adults comfortably as long as all four are not over 6 feet. Gas milage is not great but you have to pay for your pleasure.

  • Love my car, but... - 2014 Infiniti QX60
    By -

I gave performance a 3 because at times when I go to accelerate, it is not smooth. I was sitting in traffic and when it was time to move, I pressed on the gas and the car did a sort "chug, chug, chug" and a vibration when it moved. Has anyone else had this problem? Ive taken it in for servicing, but they dont know what the problem is.

  • Luxury Car Of The Year ! - 2014 Infiniti Q50
    By -

I love this car just purchased it brand new, right off the lot. I drove a fully loaded 2008 infiniti G35 sedan before this one (now its my work car lol). I love infinitis because they are reliable, fast, fun, and stylish! So far Ive put 6k miles on it & it has been a dream to drive.. i mean infiniti really outdone itself this time. Everything is excellent (seriously), infinitis version of the i-drive system is very simple , not too much of a learning curb at all. All the driving modes really help, i have the hybrid so i avg 32 mpg on gas with 354 horses :) .. no words can describe how great this car is, dont believe me? Go test drive one, the infiniti Q50 wont let you down .
