Overview & Reviews
Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.
The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.
As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.
Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.
Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

Happy Customer - 2009 Infiniti G37
By HappyCustomer - November 27 - 4:50 amOverall, an excellent choice! This car is FAST! And it has all the features you would ever want. I got the Premium and Navi which are a must have for a lux car. Way better than BMW 3 series and more stylish than the TL. Old G series was boring, but I love the new design, 7 speed AT, and 328 HP! Interior is great and comfortable (BMW interior is boring -- leatherette for a lux car? Are you kidding me?) TL is bigger but not as fast and not as pretty on the outside. I thought about getting a Maxima, but heck, its almost the same price, so why not get the G37? With the confidence of Inifinti reliability, I am one happy camper.

king of sports sedans - 2007 Infiniti G35
By kyoppolife - November 23 - 4:16 pmtest drove the 2007 bmw 328i, audi a4 (2.0t and 3.2), mazdaspeed6, lexus is250. spent the last 5 years driving a 2001 vw jetta wolfsburg with Upsolute chip. the g35s 6mt i picked up a month ago easily outperformed all of them. full of gadgets (im a sucker for techy gadgets and gimmicks). perfect balance of sport, luxury, and technology. no other car can hang with the bang for the buck and the only one in its league performance wise is the bmw 335i for an additional $10k. sorry lexus is350, if youre automatic only you are disqualified from serious sports sedan contention. otherwise is350 would also be in this top 3, although for $5k more than the infiniti.

Fun Car - 2006 Infiniti G35
By steve - November 23 - 11:36 amI drive a lot of miles. Wanted AWD, previous car was a BMW 540iA and an SUV in the winter. It was either the Infiniti or BMW 530ix THe G35 is fun to drive, great NAV and stereo, and at least feels as fast as the 2000 540. Only have 1K miles in 2 weeks time, but I got the same or better milage with the V8 in the 540. Lacks the refinement of the German car but is $20K less than the 530ix. IMO the 530ix lacked low range torque and was a pig off the line. I am very happy to pocket the $20K and drive the G35year round.

I35 not the Maxima for me - 2004 Infiniti I35
By mjstin - November 22 - 10:00 amI drove the maxima first and then the I35. No comparison. The I35 felt more like the Lexus I traded, the maxima felt like the accord I had a few years ago. I got a great deal too - $27,795 loaded. I couldnt get the maxima fully loaded for that price. I am a very happy customer. Oh and by the way, the Infiniti dealership gives you valet service, I dont think Nissan does. Infiniti rates #1 in customer satisfaction and service in my book.

Most bank for the buck!! - 2003 Infiniti M45
By TWD in Austin, Tx. - November 20 - 2:00 amI bought the first M45 in Austin and smoked a Porsche Boxter the first week. I looked at the new E500 and there was no comparison, especially for the price. Ive had three Corvettes and this one will definately keep pace with my 93 and seems to handle better, suprising for a large four door sedan. Looks best in Black with chrome wheels. Very 70s in style which I like but with far more technology. Though Ive had mine now for two months, Ive seen only one other one here. It appears this car will be another "sleeper." Ill have fun smoking other "so called" competitors: 540i, GS 430 and E 500.
