Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Spend a little more on a 3-series - 2003 Infiniti G35

Since I bought this car as a commute car only (also have an 03 M3) I decided to save a little money and get the G35 over a 330i. What a big mistake. The interior is a joke and the car rattles like an old Chevy. The handling is good but cant approach that of the 330i. I guess its a good car for the money but consider spending a little more and you get a far superior car in the 330i. I would not recommend the G35 to anyone.

I bought this vehicle last year and I love it. Sure the gas mileage isnt that great, but if you spend that much money on a vehicle and all you do is worry about the gas mileage then maybe you shouldnt buy one. The power is unbelievable for an SUV of this size. I highly recommend the QX56.

Great handling, more than adequate power, and one of the most appealing styles out there. This one was purchased with every option except the overpriced navigation system. Not a single rattle, which is impressive here in western Pennsylvania.

  • Best sport coupe under $40K, bar none! - 2008 Infiniti G37

This is the best car I have own in my life so far. I test drove BMW 335i prior to this vehicle. Both cars felt very fun to drive. Is BMW worth extra $5K? Definitely NOT. G37s styling looks much sportier than 335i coupe. Redlining at 7500 rpm feels like a true sports car! The sound of the exhaust is truly awesome! I look forward to drive my car after a long hard days work. 19 in rims look great!

I love this car. Interior features and layout provide lots of perks: storage I didnt know I needed, plug-ins for phone charging and satelite radio, logical and appropriate settings for controls. Speed and handling are a real plus. Pep and acceleration whenever it is needed. Handles better than the RX8 and BMW 3 series. Provides simultaneous sporty and luxurious ride.

  • Having owned both the Q50 2014 and the 2015... - 2014 Infiniti Q50
    By -

This review is coming from someone who likes to drive aggressively. Two thumbs up. 2 cars ago I had a 2010 VW GTI. Loved it, til I drove it (almost literally) to the ground. It had to have a new engine at 80k mi, so instead, I was then in the market for a new vehicle. Ive always liked smaller cars and their handling and steering, so this was somewhat of a big step to take to go with a "mid-size sports luxury sedan." I had the 2014 Q50 for a year and I really liked it; I upgraded to a 2015 Q50 with a few more options (they took my 2014 as a trade-in). Id never driven an Infiniti before the 2014 Q50, but my friend has/had a Nissan Maxima, another friend had an Infiniti M37, and a friend has an Infiniti EX37. My friends opinions about the reliability of Infiniti kind of persuaded me to try it, and Im glad I did. It is "less connected" to the road, especially with the way I want to drive, but I still enjoy it, but this means a softer, smoother ride--a comfy drive. My friend even commented on the smooth suspension as a passenger (although, he had a BMW 3-series, so thats a pretty big difference). The big 327HP V6 engine is pretty powerful. With a 3 adult passengers and a trunk full of luggage, the Q50 still has no trouble accelerating quickly. The Bose surround sound is pretty nice; very similar to Nissans. You have to play around with the sound settings to get it just the way you like it (took me about a week). Sometimes the bass can be too loud; depends on what kind of music you listen to. Navigation is decent. Back-up camera is good (and the display is big too). Note: There is a big difference between the non-premium version and the premium version of the Q50, the premium version has steer-by-wire, which gives it a much more disconnected feel. You get used to it after a while (of all the loaner cars Ive ever gotten), but they are drastically different. My Q50 does not have steer-by-wire. If money were not an obstacle, I wouldve gotten the Q50S for the sport suspension/tuning.

  • Great Ride - 2005 Infiniti G35

This car will make you feel young. Great engine, and handling. Nice purr from exhaust. FUN to drive, comfortable, great sound system. Interior trim is perfect for a sports sedan. Large enough for 5 adults on short drives great for 4 adults on longer trips.

  • Rattle and shaking NOT a luxury at all ! - 2005 Infiniti QX56
    By -

Since I bought this car it has been a house of pain Rattling is so bad you can never imagine. It has been to dealership 4 times still NO FIX. Dealer is a nice team but they cannot rebuild the whole car. Now less than a year new AC broke, Breaks are gone, Back spoiler broke and flew on Highway If you love engine, wait til it starts giving you a hissing snake noise. DVD/TV interrupt with Audio. Remote on TV does not work. I have lost my patience and ***PLEASE DO NOT BUY IT NO Matter which couple of things you may like in this vehicle **** OR wait till Infinity fixes it all Do not be impressed by NEW Buyers Comments, They do not know what they got into..

  • Its a great car! - 2008 Infiniti G35
    By -

I researched cars for a long time. I did own a Passat, and it was fine, but I was tired of the Euro quirks and expensive repairs. I wanted an all-wheel drive car with good technological features, as well as something that I could DRIVE. I looked at another Passat, but the V6 4-Motion was as much as this car. Easy decision there. This has been a great car so far. Love the acceleration and the handling. The interior is first rate. When compared to the BMW 3**xi, or the A4, it hands down the best value. More horsepower, more features, less money.

  • Outstanding Machine - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

This car is incredible, it doesnt have V8 power however it is very quick out of the hole and is really fast for a V6. If it only had more horsepower it would be scary and even more fun! The VDC on this vehicle is something I honestly feel should be mandatory to have on every vehicle built! I have driven this vehicle in the snow and it just will not lose control with the VDC on! You dont hear enough about the safety of this car.
