Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Excellent Coupe - 2009 Infiniti G37
    By -

Super power comes with AWD. Interior design is excellent. Electronic gadgets are nice to have. This car has a strong engine with all the luxury comfort. It is an excellent coupe that combines both. It is not harsh on the road as BMW. The torque is not there as the 3.35i but still has plenty of power to make you smile.

  • Great car... w/exceptions - 2001 Infiniti I30

This is the first Infiniti that we purchased. I love the car other than a few items that need attention. Power tilt on drivers side needs repair after approx 70,000 miles, Oxygen sensor keeps coming on and I decided to ignore it (too costly to keep repairing). Gas mileage ok

  • Can someone say Fun! - 2006 Infiniti G35

Having the chance to wake up every morning and open the gargage door to see the beautiful sight of a metal machine. Not just any machine but one of the best coupes out there under 35k. The power, sound, and enjoyment of driving it makes the g35 the best coupe hands down. Being able to hit those corners with percise turns and the growl of the exhaust as it passes you is amazing. INfiniti ROcks!

  • Great Car - Better than my 04 - 2008 Infiniti G37
    By -

After testing many, many cars to replace my 04 G35 Coupe, I returned to the Infiniti. You cannot beat the combination of performance, quality, style and value in a coupe in this price range. I was a little reluctant to buy the "same" car again but the new one is an upgrade in almost every aspect. Much nicer interior, controls and features. Nicer to drive on everyday basis. Navi system much better than in my Acura TL. Have not had chance to put car to a test yet but seems to have a little better handling than 04 but acceleration about the same. With more torque, this would be a really great performer. Styling classy but understated.

  • The M37xS puts the Sport in Luxury Sport Sedan - 2013 Infiniti M
    By -

I recently upgraded to an Obsideon Black 2013 M37xS from a Malbec Black 2011 G37xS Sedan coming off of an 18 month lease. I also considered an M56xS, Q50 S AWD, FX37, Audi A6, Jaguar XF 3.0 AWD, and Chrysler 300 SRT8. The M won me over with its combination of athleticism, size, and class. I have the Sport and Premium Packages, making this my perfect blend of luxury and sport. Id consider myself an enthusiast-level driver and appreciate the go-fast bits. While the G37 may be more sports car-like, the M37 has plenty of grunt and feels next-level upscale, matching an A6, 5 Series, E Class, etc. This car has seen extensive snow, having easily traversed at least 7 inches worth multiple times.

Performs well but no telescoping steering wheel is a problem with long legs

  • Hmmm..... - 1997 Infiniti QX4
    By -

I bought this car with only 45k last year. Its been very reliable but does lack power. The WORST part of this car is the suspension!!! My little Frontier rides like a Cadillac compared to the QX4. Any slight bump in the road and the suspension bottoms out like you just dropped off a 4ft cliff. This is embarrassing when you are taking friends around and its supposed to be a luxury SUV. The shocks were replaced and it made no difference. Also, no one makes anything other than OEM shocks so you cant even put stiffer shocks if you wanted to. Needless to say, this will be my last QX4.

  • BMW Beater - 2003 Infiniti G35

Truly a thrill to drive. Terrific suspension and extraordinary engine. Very comfortable for 4 but not 5.

  • Problem w. center console - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

I am stuck with "luxury" car that I cant operate the temperature or have any music because the whole center console is OUT. No button works! Didnt know there was a recall but as with Mike A, even though 2003 model, for some horrible reason, my VIN number doesnt "qualify" which beats me!

  • Its Good but......... - 2014 Infiniti Q50
    By -

I have owned 4 Infinitis before this one. 2007 FX35(loved it), 2012 G37XS(loved it), 2012 FX35 with Deluxe touring (Everyone loved this one) 2013 M37XS (I traded in my 2006 550i manual transmission because my M37XS made it feel slow) and lastly my Hagane Blue Q50 Hybris sport. I was really excite about getting 31 MPGs on the hughway in this car because I drive alot. The closest I have been able to get is 28 MPGs on the highway using cruise control. I use a simple fomula MPG = (miles driven)/(gallons). The car would say one number but it was always high by almost 3 MPGs. If it said 29, I would calculate 26-26.5. Unacceptable. Every car Ive owned I have been able achieve the posted MPGs.
