Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

I have owned two 300ZXs from Nissan. The first bought in 1984 and the second in 1988 and kept for 12 years without a mechanical problem. When the 350ZX was announced, I was in line and waiting. When the Infiniti G35 coupe was announced, I moved to that in part to justify my maturity. I was rewarded with a fantastic ride. The fit and finish is super, styling is a head- turner. The G35 coupe has a softer ride than the 350ZX, allowing your kidneys a little peace. The rear wheel drive is right for a performance car. The 280 hp engine is smooth through hard acceleration, and silent at speed. .

I spent months researching all cars in this area. I believe the G35 beats out the A4,Mazda 6, Acura TSX, and the new Maxima on value, performance, luxury, and overall driving experience. The car is extremely well balanced and it will eat up windy roads or open highways. Watch out for the smokies!!!!

Just took delivery on a G35x with Premium package and nav. Although I have only put a few hundred miles on it so far, it is everything I expected and then some. I test drove a Lexus IS 250 AWD, a Lexus IS 350, an Audi A4 2.0T quattro, and the Saab 9-3 (just to name a few) and this car blows them all away in every category. So far I could not be happier with my purchase.

  • My G35 - 2003 Infiniti G35

Ive had my G35 for a month now and driven about 1400 miles and absolutely love this car. Several people who have seen me driving into work have commented that I am smiling while driving! This car is just really that much fun to drive. The G35 has just the right blend of luxury, performance, and affordability. The minute I saw this car, I knew I wanted it, but the minute I drove it I knew I had to have it. The transmission is smooth, the engine powerful with great torque even at low RPMs (the car feels like it is pulling you to further depress the pedal), and the interior comfortable and roomy for a car in this class.

  • A Thrill of a Ride..WOW - 2008 Infiniti G37

2 weeks and 500 miles later I still have a huge smile on my face each time I drive it. Got the premium pkg with 19" sport wheels. I now look foward in the mornings to start her up and head to work just for the chance to drive this car. Acceleration is FUN-nominal and this car turns heads ever where I go and each compliment are very positive. There is nothing I would change on this car, its a pleasure to drive everytime. Each time I get out of the car I find myself looking back with a smile wishing I could just keep driving. Test drove the BMW 335i, Acura TL & Lexus IS350 and none had it all wrapped in one beautiful pkg as the G37 did.

  • Glad I Picked This One - 2009 Infiniti G37

Just bought two days ago. Was insistent on purchasing the BMW 335i con. until I drove this car. It had me at hello. I love everything about it. Of course, it has only been two days. If first impressions count, this car is now my baby, and my 5 year old has been upgraded from my baby to my little boy.

  • The Bomb!! - 2003 Infiniti M45
    By -

I have owned my M45 for just over 5 years. This has been the most enjoyable, reliable car Ive owned and Ive had 19 cars. After 5 years, it still turns heads at the styling. Odd and unique....which is why I love it. Not a lot of them on the road. The power is second to none in its class, the features are top of the line for a 2003 model and it handles better than any BMW, Mercedes, Lexus Ive had the pleasure of driving. So many reviews complain of gas mileage.....what do you expect in a V8 performance car??? Its not a Hybrid!

  • Bank for the Buck - 2005 Infiniti Q45

My second Infiniti. First was 2003 M45. If you dont need a car for your ego but want a reliable, well equipped highway cruiser, then the Q45 is your car. A total redesign is due in 2007. Definitely nicer to look at than the new BMW 740 or anything else from BMW these days!! And the Q like all Japanese luxury cars are superior in reliability, a luxury the car critics often dont give much credence to but is a big issue for me. Im sold on Infinti!!!

  • Loved my G35X - 2004 Infiniti G35

I absolutely loved this car. It has it all, comfort, power, reliability, luxury, good looks, the list goes on. Ive leased it for 4 years and would love to get another one day.
