Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Despite its shortcomings, I love my car - 2014 Infiniti Q50
    By -

I purchased my Q50 in mid-March. It was a demo with 1700 miles on it. The car was delivered pretty much flawless. I love the look of the interior/exterior, and the feel/comfort of the car is outstanding. The navigation system has worked fine for me. No mishaps, even driving on country roads. The interior is nicely laid out and the technology "concepts" are awesome. I just wish the "In Touch" did what it was marketed to do. I made the mistake of speeding up the delivery process since I had spent so much time in finance, so the salesman pitched the "apps" as if they worked. That angers me. But overall, I love my car and wouldnt trade it in for its shortcomings.

  • Excellent!! - 2003 Infiniti QX4
    By -

It is much better than Honda Pilot (same as platform as Odyssey), GMC Envoy (same as Trail-blazer), Ford exploer, and Toyota 4-runner. When you test drive the SUV, push it a bit harder. You will see why Qx4 is much better. Then look at its interior, and compare to price and reliability. Finally, choicing QX4 becomes no- brainer dicision.... Do not be fooled by others offer about soft ride. What you loose is the fun, sport, and drivability. Remember this is SUV: has to be Sport and Utility.

  • The Car of your life - 2002 Infiniti Q45

Head tohead to a lexus Ls 430. Since I have it the Q wins!

  • My M45 - 2007 Infiniti M45

Only negative with sport model is that you will DEFINITELY need snow tires for any kind of winter driving.

  • very very nice sport coupe - 2006 Infiniti G35

  • Sooooooo many miles - 2005 Infiniti G35
    By -

I purchased my 2005 G coupe in july of this year brand new and can honestly say I hate NOT driving it. I get mad when i go to sleep or have to go to work because that is taking away my G time. The "American Skyline" is a superb machine and was my choice over a Subaru WRX STI and the Evolution 8. Both cars may be a bit quicker, but there arent words to describe the feeling you get when you drive the G35. The handling is great at above average speeds and acceleration is remarkable. I would only buy this car in a manual for the simple fact that I dont think you can get the full effect of it in an auto or auto-stick. Great buy for the money.

  • Personal Review - 2003 Infiniti G35

The reason I looked at and bought the G35 sedan was the price, looks and handling of the car. I also wanted a rear wheel drive which I believe makes for better handling. I am very happy with the car and would recomend it. It is one of the best cars I ever own.

  • Love my G - 2003 Infiniti G35

I was looking to replace my 97 4Runner and my son told me about this car. I started researching and just fell in love with the G35. Its sure is the best car that Ive owned so far.

  • Outstanding - 2006 Infiniti G35
    By -

I bought this car last year and have been very happy with it ever since. It handles very very well, the exterior design is stunning and torque is out of this world. I wished it were a little better on fuel economy but with that much power its reasonable. Overall, very satisfied.

  • will buy another - 1998 Infiniti I30

I bought a 98 i30 with 93000 miles in 2004. As of Aug. 2008 It has 203,000 miles I have not had to do any repairs other than brakes and tires. This is an excellent car. Runs great, and rides even better.
