Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Good Choice - 2009 Infiniti G37

I moved to Minnesota from AZ a while ago and wanted to purchase a AWD vehicle. After an exhaustive search I chose the G37x and could not be happier. I thought I would miss my BMW 3 series but I am surprised to say I dont. It is a different drive but as a daily commuter way outclasses my old car.

  • Infiniti Does it Again!!! - 2006 Infiniti M45

I just received my new M45 with the Premium Package, and I have to say it should be called the everything but the kitchen sink package! I have a 2004 FX45 that I love, but this M took my love for Infiniti to a whole new level. There is not a car out there in its class that can compete with all the first rate technology they use in this vehicle. You name it, it has it, and if it doesnt have it, you probably wont find it anywhere else either. Power, tech, comfort, convienece, looks, and a beautiful interior should be making all the other Makers questioning their line ups. I used to be a Acura lover, then Lexus, even BMW, but it looks to me that Infiniti has won me over. Couldnt be happier!

  • HOLD ON TO YOUR HAT! - 2004 Infiniti M45

With a 340 HP engine that it shares with the Q and many other features also shared with the Q 45 make this the sleeper of the under 50K bracket. You will not believe the acceleration and handling on the open road. The control panel takes a little learning and the sound system is mediocre. I LOVE the body styling and think it will become a novelty because of its 2 year production cycle before a SAAB like restyling. Ill stay with my 2003 M45 style.

Do you enjoy driving hard, not just riding along in comfort? If yes, the G35 is for you. I have 34,000 miles on my 2003 G35, I have pushed it and pushed harder, it still satisfies. Failed Gas tank sending unit and failed airbag sensor are my only gripes so far. Dragstrip times better than Mustang GTs, road course times up there with All Wheel Drive cars, this car will do it all and come back on Monday to take the kids to school and go to work. After work you can destress with the help of 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears (80 mph in <8 seconds). Just go drive it, but drive it hard.

  • ZOOOM! - 2004 Infiniti G35

I Love My G35! Fantastically responsive, loves to hug curves, stops on a dime, moves out with little effort. I never hesitate to merge into highway traffic from a complete stop. Stylish, sleek, a real head-turner! Id buy another in a heartbeat!

  • Great Car for the money - 2004 Infiniti G35

Bought one for my wife in Dec. She was driving a 1999 Audi A4 AWD 2.6! This car blows it away (IMHO). More fun to drive, much quicker and goes like He** in the snow. We live in northern CT and had plently of snow this year and it performed flawlessly. As good or better than the A4. I avoided driving the A4 as it felt slugglish, but I admit to now taking her car every chance I get. For the price this car is really hard to beat. I test drove all the other AWD in this class and this was by far the best.

  • The King is buried and gone!! - 2009 Infiniti G37
    By -

I have owned many vehicles including the KING of performance, the ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE and yes the Bimmers are a blast to drive they just lack all of the other stuff you would expect when you are purchasing a luxury vehicle. Simply the Infiniti G37 gives you the performance of the Bimmer but for a whole lot less and ten times more technology and features you cannot even get on the BMW. I know, I know, people always say if you can afford a BMW then money really is not an issue but in this day and age $10k is still $10k. Unless you must have those three letters in your driveway, get the Infiniti G37xS and if you want to blow $10k buy some GM stock.
