Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Good solid vehicle - 2008 Infiniti M45

I traded in a 2009 Maxima for the 2008 M45X (new). This is a very nice luxury vehicle. It has all the toys inside that the BMW 5 series has. The smart cruise control is awesome. This vehicle accelerates very quick. This car is a keeper. It is not a head turner. I think the goodies inside with all the electronic gadgets you get to play with is where you get your monies worth out of 2008 M45X. The surround sound is awesome. Pretty quiet ride, not as smooth on rough roads as I was expecting. On the highway you cannot tell the difference between 75 and 90 mph. Simply a well built machine. I had buyers remorse initially but the car has won me over, this car is a keeper!

  • Amazing Car - 2008 Infiniti G37

Just got the car! Journey with Prem. Pkg., Navi, Illuminated Kick Plates, Cargo Net. What an amazing car! I searched and searched and test drove and test drove. The car is luxurious and appropriately sporty. I forwent the Sport Pkg. because I am 36 and the sportiest car is no longer the most important to me. The all season tires should last a bit longer. The ride is a bit nicer and the seats are just as comfortable in my opinion. I dont think Ill miss the larger brakes and the limited slip diff.

  • Best sleeper car ever made - 1998 Infiniti Q45
    By -

Now that Im at the point of retiring from Q45s it is safe for me to say that this is one of the best vehicles ever made. You can get them for 4k with 90k miles in 100% condition from an 80 year old doctor, then drive the crap out of them. We have bmws but I take the q45 when its highway time. A really great vehicle and the ultimate sleeper.

  • Im definately impressed!!!! - 2008 Infiniti G35

I have been a Maxima guy for years and never thought I could afford a G. Ive always liked the looks of the G35 so I decided to test drive one. It was all over after that. WOW is all I had to say. I bought the 08 early this year because of the rebates, only paid 32K for it with the Sport and Premium packages. I still have my 03 Maxima which I like alot but I let my sister drive it for now because I just cant see letting it sit (and sit it would as long as I have a car like the G). The VLSD (vicious limited-slip differential) and paddle shifters add to the FUN factor for sure. Im 29 and feel like a kid in a candy store every time I get in my car.

  • Love It! - 2004 Infiniti QX56

Just bought the QX56 and I love it. Terrific design characteristics and very roomy inside. Have yet to see many on the road so that makes it more appealing. Looks like a big SUV but drives like a smaller vehicle.

  • QX56 Puts the Rest to Shame - 2004 Infiniti QX56

I just picked up my new QX56 2 days ago and it is amother of a SUV. I had the FX45 and when I saw the QX online I knew that I had to have it. I have the third one in the Northern Virginia area and the first in Tuscan pearl. It is so pretty. It is soooooooooooo smooth for a large SUV. I got every option that the truck came with and I am loving every moment of it. I will say that infiniti is awesome when it comes to technology. Puts the Lincolns, Cadis, Ranges to shame.

Have knocked off 6000 miles in three months. I just cant shut the engine off!

  • Very Happy - 2002 Infiniti G20
    By -

I bought this car used for my wife to drive, but whenever I can I take it for a joy ride.It handles magnificently on the highways and is just fantastic on winding roads. The overall quality built into every component in this sporty machine is supurb. Example, very high quality carpet material used for the floor mats. I also love the Bose sound system, again top quality stuff. The Infiniti powertrain warranty is another great feature also, although I have had no need to use it, knowing it is covering the powertrain system up to 70,000 miles is comforting. This car has a great sporty look both inside and out.I really cant find any faults with our Infinity G-20. We both love our G-20!!!!!!!!!

  • Updated Q45 - 2002 Infiniti Q45
    By -

Recently there was an update for this model Q45. Infiniti calls it the ITB-02048 update. And what a difference it made. No more hesitation on takeoff. The first part of the fix replaces the accelerator pedal with one with a bit less lag in the pedal itself. Nice update. Good update. The second part of the update doesnt involve any new parts - it is all ones and zeros, but its what makes the big difference. Its gone from Oldsmobile shifting (no offense) to German shifting, and from a stop the car feels so much faster. It reprograms the Engine Control Module. Shifting and acceleration are totally different.
