Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

After 6k miles, averaging 21 mpg with a mix city/hwy driving. Previous vehicle was LR3, which sits very high. Took some adjusting to a more sporty luxury vehicle. I dont feel like Im on the ground, seat height is good, not commanding. Ride quality is superb! CVT transmission took some adjusting, but I have really grown to like the quick drive quality in sport mode. It is plenty fast for me, cant wait to drive it on the expressway each day. Great family vehicle for trips and activities. Loads of room and an airy feel equal to the rover with even more leg room in all 3 rows. Cons: Needs an app based tech system. Doesnt read texts, requires too many voice prompts for calls and navi.

I needed more pep after driving a G20 for five years, and after getting used to the difference of overall size in the vehicle, this car delivers.

  • 30k miles update - 2011 Infiniti QX56

Flawless thus far, at 30 miles. Plano, Tx has discovered this great upscale/affordable, luxury SUV. Love the technology, have delux touring, technology and required Entertainment to get the other two. The blind spot warning is great as well as the feature that slows you when you are approaching a stopped vehicle. Helpful without being intrusive and you can turn it off or on too. Hydraulic suspension option is nice too, no head toss at all in this comfy SUV... had a puppy who got car sick in my luxury cars but not in this smooth riding vehicle... No issues and plan to keep it a long long time... 4 wheel drive works great too, handles ice and big wheels/tires handle bumps/pot holes but smooth

For several months I dreamed of owning one of these vehicles and finally the day came that I got up and got in. I love my QX4. The interior is beautiful and the ride is like no other. Being that it is the last model year of course I got a great deal, but if you are seriously looking for a mid-size SUV this is it. Think Long Term!

  • SO Glad I Chose a G35 Sedan!!! - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

I had been looking at pre-owned 540s for about six months and at one point had actually gotten close to forking out $38K for a 2000 540 sport/premium with some (but not all) of the options I wanted. I walked away from that deal and am glad I did because it gave me the chance to test drive the G35 sedan! WOW! Drive it and youll want one right away! I was able to get a NEW G35 with ALL the options I wanted (sport suspension, premium pkg, aero pkg, and nav system) and still saved about $4K over a USED 540! The G35 absolutely ROCKS!...Drives great and you feel great driving it too!

  • Indescribable! - 2003 Infiniti G35

Ive wanted one of these they came out but had to wait for my Maxima lease to run out. Its such an amazing vehicle. The handling, the 6 speed, Bose, all of it is hard to believe for the price. The new Maximas are very ugly but do have a bit more room in the back seat.

It provides jaw dropping performance, with excellent acceleration, crisp braking and awesome handling for a reasonable price. Infiniti has hit the bullseye with its first year model. No complaints.
