Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

This car is really cute. My dad bought it for my for my 17th birthday! Its really comfortable and fun to drive but coffee spills a lot because the cup holder is HORRIBLE. Otherwise, I really have no complaints except for the fact that it needs a lot more power. Also, heated seats would have been nice to have. I hate the way the antenna comes up when the radio is turned on.

Shop between Acura TLS, Lexus es300; compare styles; compare prices; i35 fully loaded without NAV is $4000 less than es300, $2k less than TLS. Inside, es300 is best; Outside i35 stands out. Overall best value : i35

  • Silky Smooth V6 Engine - 2003 Infiniti G35

I had owned many different makes of cars. This car surpasses BMWs engine performance easily (Also includes Infinitis reliability). The length of the car is perfect. I wanted more then what the cramped A4 offers and 3 series too; but not too large to take away from its sportiness. People talk about their BMW, Ive had one of those and you get nickled and dimed to death with them. This is a reliable car with performance.

  • 10,000 less than GS300 - 2003 Infiniti G35

Most people are comparing the G35 to the 330i--and it is flattering that the Infiniti is even compared to that benchmark car. However, it is more like the Lexus GS300 in its characteristics--and when MSRP is compared between THOSE two the Infiniti is $10,000 less and has 25 more h.p. My Sedan is fun to drive has a nice balance of handling and ride quality. Its clearly the best car for the money.

  • Test drove, dont own - 2008 Infiniti G37

Coming from 2002 BMW M3 SMG and 2008 Audi A4 6-Speed (GIAC chipped), G37S felt SLOW, maybe just a bit faster then my A4 (again GIAC chipped), and MUCH slower then M3. Steering not as tight as on previous cars, at 28k miles there was a lot of NOT normal wear on plastics and leather. The built quality inside is on par with Honda Civic. I am sorry, I wanted to like this car, but 335i (thats usually compared to G37S) is just a better car all around.

  • Has all of the bells and whistles! - 2008 Infiniti QX56
    By -

I got the new 08 QX56 as soon as it came out, I have about 500 miles on the car, I was waiting b/c improvements are so great over the 07. I traded in an Odyssey van. While the QX is true luxury, I have to say the Odyssey handles more smoothly on the road. I love the interior of the QX as well as all of the bells/whistles re: technology. Ive only figured out about 60% of the features. In addition to the roughness on the road, I was also surprised by the engine noise/vibration under drivers seat while accelerating; I suppose thats due to the huge engine size.

  • Everything you could want and more! - 2006 Infiniti M45
    By -

I tested all the competitors(Lexus, Acura, Mercedes, and BMW). The M gives you the most bang for your buck. Ive got the technology package and it is unreal. No other car has all of the features this came with. Bluetooth connectivity for the cell phone works great. The DVD surround sound is incredible. I suggest the Santana Supernatural DVD for testing this sound system. The backup camera is very helpful for parallel parking. The laser guided crusie control is great. You can watch DVD videos on the front screen if you are in park. This is great for when the wife is shopping and you want to kick back in the car. The power in the M45 is fantastic. You could not ask for more. ENJOY!!
