Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • so far so good - 2013 Infiniti JX

here is my impression after 1 week. the jx rides smooth and coming from 2 lexus rx350 i think infinity has gone the extra mile as far a the interior and nice little details where i felt lexus had cheapened the interior and when i tried to order a mark levinson sound system it was a 5 month wait..I like the bose sound system and the cvt is smooth and no lack of power here. I did drive the mdx and that is much faster but not as nice of a ride. the car does have some body lean around curves but not so that i bothers me. i can only hope its reliable as with 2 lexus i never had anything go wrong in 6 years.. go check it out its nice

  • A Pleasure to Drive - 2003 Infiniti G35

Great fun; Im surprised that I find some excuse to go for a drive so often. I have read many expert and consumer reviews, and in the sometimes bizarre nitpicking the essence of the car is not always coming through. There is something about rear-wheel drive, designed-in weight balance, an "industrial grade" 6-speed short- throw shifter, generous power and superb road handling that, when mixed together, somehow exceeds the sum of all their parts, creating an unmistakable sensation of athletic heart and soul which I find missing in the vast majority of cars I have driven. Its not missing here.

The total combo of performance, handling and price can not be beat. Fun to drive too. This is my 5th Infiniti and by far the best. The car is 9 months old and yet to go back to the dealer for any adjustment! Ive taken four 1000 mile, 16 hour trips . I cant believe how easy it is to get down the road.

  • Very Happy!! - 2002 Infiniti I35

Have had the car for one month and am very happy! Love the way the car rides. Only defect is the wide turning radius. I find myself having to frequently back up when entering parking spaces.

  • Lovin Every Minute of It - 2003 Infiniti G35

I have absolutely no complaints. This is by far the best car Ive ever owned or experienced. I love every minute in it. As a matter of fact, once in awhile, I even let my wife drive it... to keep her happy of course.

  • Great car but not enough headroom - 2004 Infiniti G35

The power motors for the drivers seat take up WAY to much space. Combined with the moonroof, this car is a tight fit for anyone near the 6 height mark. Im 62", and with the seat lowered and tilted back 100%, I still cannot sit straight up. This is my only dissapointment with this car.

  • Fun Ride - 2013 Infiniti G CONVERTIBLE
    By -

I bought my 2013 G37 convertible last year with under 10,000 miles. This is my third hard top convertible and I love it. Its true, the trunk space is non-existent when the top is down and really not much when the top is up either but I didnt buy it for the trunk space. The back seat can be utilized if really needed for a very short ride but works best for groceries if the top is down. I use this car for my daily 20 mile commute with no complaints. I love the sound of the engine, and surprised about the reviews lamenting it. I was worried initially but my husband and I have fun driving it on the interstate, not sure what the issue was in the formal review. Maintenance has been great, much cheaper than my VW EOS. If you want a sporty, quick accelerating fun car to drive, this could be it!

  • Best car for the money - 2004 Infiniti G35

I really love the drive and reliability of this car. Its a pleasure to drive and look at. You will not be disappointed. Very reasonable maintenance if not done at the dealership. You just basically change the oil and cabin air filter every 3,750 miles. You owe it to yourself to own one of these cars.

  • My favorite car in our fleet. - 2002 Infiniti I35

This car is a joy to drive. Very comfortable, very responsive. Fuel economy is OK, and the suggestion to use premium fuel is one to be heeded, so its a little more expensive to operate, but you get what you pay for.
