Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

great car- purchased in august 02 and with 34,000 miles no problems at all except for cd player which was replaced.love the shifter, fun to drive as manual when desired. best car i have ever owned. drove 745i bmw for 6 weeks, absolutely could never justify the extra $$ for the BMW over the G35.

  • Best Value - 2002 Infiniti I35

After looking at the Mercedes C240, Lexus ES300, and Acura 3.2TL S, we finally looked at the Infiniti I35 and G35. Our goal was to find a nice sedan to replace our Honda Odyssey. We were so impressed with the I35 that we bought the one in the showroom. It had more space than than the G35, and had more bang for the buck than the other cars that we had looked at. Although I thought we would buy a C240, I am not unhappy that we did not. For $8,000 less we got more room and horsepower. While the G35 is more of a sports sedan (watch out BMWand Audi), the I35 is a luxury sedan - which is what we were after. I cound not be happier.

This is the only car that I was more impressed on the second test drive than I was on the first. I have only one comment... WOW!!

  • Infiniti G - Fun to Drive - 2007 Infiniti G35

I think the Infiniti G is a great value play considering the performance and initial quality. More than anything, new Infiniti buyers will enjoy a very entertaining driving experience. This is a fast car that holds the road nicely. I spent a lot of time driving a Journey with 17 inch wheels prior to purchase, but decided to add the performance tire and wheel package. I think the car has a more refined and quieter ride at highway speeds on the 18 inch Bridgestone tires. The drawback is that the 18" tires can not be rotated like the 17s.

  • I Love My Car - 2006 Infiniti QX56
    By -

So far it has been great! This is my first Infiniti QX56, previous 2 SUVs were Lincoln Navigator and Ford Expedition. Have also driven an Escalade much. Not the get up and go power of the Escalade but a close second. More comfortable than the Escalade or my previous SUVs. Great construction--sturdy, Navigator moldings didnt hold up well to my 3 girls and their numerous friends pilled into "moms taxi." Did have an immediate gear shift problem within hours of receiving the new car, fixed within 24 hours at the dealer. Gear was slipping out of drive and brakes locking up until motor turned off (not good in traffic)--no problems since first day. Love the look, size, engine power.

This car should be the #1 for cost , build , and fun...BMW 330 has a great car but add about 10K for the same effect.

  • What a gas! - 2003 Infiniti G35

I looked at all the usual suspects in the sport/luxury field, and the G is without a doubt the way to go. Its every bit as fun as the BMW3, only with much more room and for MUCH less. Driving it makes me feel 16 years old again. Overall a homerun for Infiniti!
