Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • G35 - Amazing Fun and Performance - 2003 Infiniti G35

The fun-factor of this ride must be experienced to be appreciated. I purchased the G35 with the extra sports package and all the options that were available. The exterior look oozes luxury while maintaining an extremely efficient drag coefficient (0.26). The available power (265 HP) propels this carriage to 60 mph in under 6 seconds. The brake response is outstanding with very little effort but there is no loss of feel for the road. Rear-wheel drive and vehicle dymanics control allows, even the most inexperienced driver to benefit from all of those ponies while maintaining a sure grip on the road. The interior offers the refinement one would expect is a luxury vehicle at a great price.

A friend has had a 2002 330i for some time, so when I was to purchase a new car I was convinced the BMW was the way to go. Boy was I wrong. First of all 4 people cannot fit in the BMW, unless they are 4 very small people, and secondly performance wise the Infiniti is in a class by its own. We drove everything in the same class, the TL, the IS 350, Audi A4, etc. Nothing comes close to the G 35 for exterior style and power. The interior leaves something to be desired, as does the fuel economy. If you want interior comfort go with the IS or TL, but dont expect to get 4 people in the IS, the TL is nice for grandmas. I highly recommend the sport package for bigger wheels and nicer rims.

I have had my car for about 2 months now and the performance is awesome. I have always driven sports cars and this one definitely out performs most of them. It is a very fun car to drive but I have had issues with the poor gas mileage. I understand with over 306 HP you arent going to get the best gas mileage but why have a performance car if you cant drive it like you want. I also am having issues with the brakes squeaking and my car only has 25k miles on it. I guess the brake pads have to be changed frequently on the car. Wish I had known that before I bought it.

  • My 100,000+ mile Update - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

I have 112,000 miles on my 03 G35 Sedan Sport. Ive had Benz, BMW, Honda and this is the best car Ive ever owned. It still goes like stink, handles tight and fits four. Nitpicks are small (see below) especially given my mid-2002 model. Does it handle with aplomb and oversteer like a BMW? No. It does track controllably and straight whether on a twisty or a fwy. But the steering shudders when I take a bumpy ramp hard. Other than that, its a refined, fast, great looking, RELIABLE ride. I have had no -- I mean none -- major repairs. Its a fun compromise that will smoke em all day with 0-60 in 5.6 sec, costs $10k less than the Germans (& will run longer & cheaper) & gets a consistent 20 mpg.

  • What a tremendous vehicle! - 2009 Infiniti G37

Moonlight White G37S with Premium/Navigation/Sport/Technology/4- wheel Active Steering packages Just brought this home. I had been shopping around since February. Looked at the BMW 335, Audi A4, Mercedes C300, Lexus IS350/ES350, Volkswagen Passat and CC. After all was said and done, the bang for the buck was clearly with the 09 G37. The most impressive part of the cars performance isnt necessarily the 0-60 time (although it is nice). I find that its ability to get up and go when already at highway speeds to get around slower traffic and put safe distance between you and others has to be experienced to be fully appreciated.

  • Great Car - 2004 Infiniti G35

I love my G35!!! The handling and power of this vehicle is impressive. It is also very comfortable and fun to drive. The only thing I have noticed that would be a negative is the car has different rattling and buzzing noises in it. Hopefully this will be able to be fixed. This is a great car though!
