Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Great ride but poor economy, outdated technology - 2016 Infiniti QX60
    By -

2016 QX60 HYBRID drives great, holds 7 people fairly comfortably, is a comfortable and safe vehicle BUT IT SHOULD ALSO HAVE THE STANDARD FEATURES OF A HYBRID. (I also own a Nissan Altima Hybrid.) Standard features should include: engine "off" in stopped conditions (even with AC on), ability to use "fan only" for fresh air without the AC activating, electronic driving in "non load" (flat, no hills, etc.) conditions. Additionally, a hybrid vehicle should get better mileage than its all gas equivalent. This vehicle fails on all "hybrid" traits. The TECHNOLOGY is outdated. Blue tooth connects to your phone but to actually dial it is anywhere from 4-8 steps. (Infinity forgot the KISS principle...Keep It Simple Stupid.) Additionally, there is no way to connect to your Android phone to display maps, IM, email, calendar, etc. in a open communication method. Infinity does allow limited connectivity using "Infinity Connect" for a fee but it doesnt work well. Infinity is a car company, not a technology company...let Google do that by allowing Android Auto to connect to the vehicle technology infrastructure. Another "whoops" by Infinity is only offering 1 USB port in the vehicle. Say "What"? SUMMARY: If youre thinking of buying a 7-seat hybrid SUV, Infinity QX60 Hybrid is a great driving vehicle but doesnt perform like a hybrid, doesnt have current technology and doesnt offer an open interface to 3rd party applications.

  • Safety Comes First - 2006 Infiniti G35

I have had this car for over a year i have the 2005 g35x. It is the best car when it comes to performance, looks and price min was 37k with package c. Recently i got into an accident where a drunk driver swiped the front bumper. Well thanks to nissans design developers that is all he did the damage is a new plate, holder and infiniti plate frame. Even though it was a small thing i once read a review saying that he was hit from bumper to bumper and was the only surviver. I believe it!!!!!

  • 2016 Q70 L Beauty - 2016 Infiniti Q70

THis vehicle provides a great experience in both comfort and performance. You never want for pick-up as this gets you moving from a light as fast as anyone needs to move on most streets!! I particularly enjoy the BIG roomy front drivers seat and the cooled and warm seats, as you never know in western New York what the weather gods are going to bring!! In addition, I get a lot of use out of the heated steering wheel as we move into the colder months..The "L" version of this Q70 is just long er enough to catch some eyes as you travel. Furthermore the extra Trunk space as well as back seat leg room make it much easier for travel!! My 5th Infiniti over the last 20 yrs , I believe this too be my best choice!!!

  • Great overall SUV - 2016 Infiniti QX80
    By -

Great SUV, Ive owned Mercedes, Escalate, BMW and a Tahoe, by far this one is the best Ive own. Gas is what you expect from a large 400HP engine, but no complaints from me. Real confortable and easy to drive around town, and it doesnt feel big at all.

  • Great car! - 2004 Infiniti G35
    By -

I traded in my Mercedes 340 CLK after experiencing one Chicago winter with it. I researched carefully and chose the G35X. I have never been disappointed! Great drive, handling, security in the snow and great sound system. I had one service problem with the Drivers seat being stuck in a lowered position when I was vacuuming, but they promptly took care of that. You would think there would be a big difference going from a Mercedes to this as far as comfort, handling, but NO! Infinity has "nailed it" and I am extremely happy even after 2 years despite some brake squealing noise and paint chipping easily. LOVE IT.

  • Love it! - 2003 Infiniti G35

I have 3,000 miles on it and cant get enough of it. Yes the gas millage is low, but that is due to gearing. I would not give up the performance. Brake pads are dirty, but GREAT stopping power! I have heard the Dealer will maintain the brakes for free up 15,000 mi. Will see. The Dealer was terrible. The purchase experiance was like a Used Car Horror story, They need to take lessons from Acura. But I would not trade the car for anything else. Enough room for my wife and I to pack for weekend get aways. That was the reason we chose over the 350z ot Audi TT. I have owned 2 Nissan Maximas before with great luck, so I hope the G35 lives up to their record!

  • Happy Overall - 2008 Infiniti G35
    By -

Overall, I am very happy with my G35. It is one of the most beautifully styled cars on the road, and it is really fun to drive. As a driver who spends almost all of his time in stop-and-go driving, the gas mileage is a little subpar (17-18 mpg in the city, but much better on the highway). I expected this, however, when purchasing this car. Overall, I am thrilled with my car and would recommend it to anyone who wants a laundry list of features in a reasonably-priced, luxury car.

  • QX56 - 2006 Infiniti QX56
    By -

so far the qx56 has held up to it promise it drives like a luxury car but has the power of a SUV another great feature is that the back seats are heated and enough room for a 6ft to seat very comfortable in the back seat not to mention all the air bags that come with the car even on the 3rd row. overall this rates 9.3 out of 10

  • The most fun Ive ever had driving. - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

I spent the past 6 months deciding between the TL, A4, A6, S80 and 330 and in the end, it came down to a 2005 TL and this, slightly used, 14k beautiful 2003 G35. After looking at the styling, both my wife and I liked the G35 better. Both test drove well, but I dont think you spend enough time on a test drive to really experience much. Well, Ive now had the car for 1000 miles and feel I have driven it enough to post a comment. This is, by far and away, the most fun Ive ever had driving a car. Ive had some fun cars over the years as well, but this car puts a smile on your face that just changes your mood. It handles like its on rails. The acceleration is a joke, its so fast.

  • This car has everything - 2005 Infiniti G35
    By -

Believe all the reviews. I traded in my 325i for this and never looked back. It has everything the BMW had plus 100 hp and a better warranty! Firm comfortable ride, tons of features, all wheel drive that stays out of the way when you dont need it, and raw power. This is a beautiful car that has evolved over the last 3 years. The interior is much better laid out and they added 20 hp to bring it up to 280. The intelligent key system that comes with the premium package is a must have. Youll never fumble for your keys again! Do not buy an entry level luxury car untill youve tried one of these. To top it off, the dealer experience was excellent.
