Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

The G35 is the most practical and satisfying car on the market right now. Its got decent space in the two rear seats and will accomidate a decent sized adult in the two very sporty front seats. I have the manual coupe and the car drives like a champ with a lot of seat pushing acceleration. The only negative thing I would have to say is the some of the buidl quality issues I noticed with my car. The cd player, throttle body, and the right window needed to be warranteed. But, the Infiniti Service dept. took care of those issues without hassle and also offered a free rental during the time they were being fixed. In short, great fun car and great hassle free service.

Ive owned a few Mercedes and a few other Japanese sports cars, but this is by FAR the best yet! It corners like superglue tires and for a 6 banger, it holds its own. I test drove them all (TL, C230, 330i, E330, Mazda6,etc.) and it came down to the TL and the G35. TL has an awesome stereo and a nice interior overall, but Im not too crazy about the front wheel sports sedans. The G35 is a suprior performing machine, by far in my humble opinion. Price was not a factor, even though my G35 listed higher than the TL, but the Acura guys did not deal but about $500 vs. with the G35, I got it for $200 over invoice. The 05 model has a slightly better interior and more user friendly ergonomics.

  • Spacious family SUV with a great value for money ! - 2015 Infiniti QX60

Pros: Great price. Roomy - seats 7 adults comfortably and up to 8 for short trips; one of the most spacious 3rd rows in its class. Good fuel economy, has a smooth ride. Cons: Interior buttons not easily visible, especially at night. Ex: seat memory settings, home link button. Interior quality needs to improve.

The QX56 has all the others beat by a mile! Runs great, looks great, holds 8 people comfortably, or hauls 4x8 shhets of plywood. You name it. Easy seat conversion too. I most like (and have never seen) the Qs ability have a person sit in the second row, and NOT have his knees touch the seat in front. The best, (and best value for the money) auto, Ive ever owned! Very satisfied!

  • A Drivers car - 2015 Infiniti Q50

If you are a drivers driver, you should try this car. In this price range, I consider this a better value than competitors like BMW. Truth: 19 inch tires, upgraded brakes, Premium, RWD drive. I purposedly chose the NON drive by wire, as I had a really BAD experience with another Infiniti that had drive by wire. The NON drive by wire, has excellent road manners, great steering control and road feel, great shift points, and wonderful braking. I find myself in tight turns still able to make micro shifts to the curve such that the line I have picked out is more efficiently used. (It took 1200 miles and 3 months to get to the present performance and appreciation for my part) Though there are two taller gears than the Coupe model, I find the accleration and shift points to be more than adequate. Though others have found the dual electronics screen distracting, I have found the opposite. With most things you need to do, like change the audio device or radio station, there are 2 or 3 ways to get it done. I find that I can keep my attention on my driving, while my fingers find a handy device to make the change. The car seats will appeal to most people, but I can only give them 4/5. I only have two negatives: I hate run flat tires (bumpy, noisy), and I do not like how totally quiet the cabinet is. There is barely any exhaust note or engine tone I can hear inside the cabin. The G37 coupe is more appealling in that regard. I bought the car with several misgivings, but they have mostly gone away, replaced by a real appreciation for this car that melds with my driving needs.

  • Original owner loves this car!!! - 2004 Infiniti I35
    By -

I bought this car new as the first G35 was coming out and Infiniti was phasing out the i series and the lot had the last five to choose from. This car had a lot of luxury for the money! I was skeptical about rear wheel drive car in winter of the Gs and the G had a much smaller cabin and fewer standard features. No regrets! Very speedy off the line if you jump on it, We get 28/29 mpg on highway, 20 commuting around town. Comfortable over over long distances, huge trunk. Now have 74,000 miles on it, out of warranty and worried about major repairs. Looking to trade it in while I can still get $10k for it
