Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • M45: Great Machine - 2003 Infiniti M45

This is a great automobile! The body style is unique and sharp. Although similar lines to the new Cadillac, I find the M45 lines much more refined compared to the "boxy" look of the Cadillac. The interior is very handsome looking. The automatic retracting seat and lifting steering wheel for ease of entrance and exit is a nice touch. The tiptronic 5 speed transmission lets me enjoy additional acceleration and control when I want to have extra "fun". The audio controls on the steering wheel make audio operation safe and easy while in motion. The voice controlled audio and climate control system also make for ease and safety of control while driving.

  • Infiniti & The QX4 - 2002 Infiniti QX4

The sales process was the same as a Nissan experience! I only bought it becuase I was tired and liked the vehicle and hell I got them to whore the car out to me! The sales and service experience is not yet up to par of that of LEXUS. Not a SUV for taller folks. Come on Infiniti, make the damn key and remote entry fob that of a Luxury Car and not of a Dodge!

  • Engineers - Listen UP! - 2000 Infiniti I30

I would consider this vehicle Very Good to Excellent. It is roomy, handles as good as other cars I have owned. But, although there are a number of creature comforts, I believe that the engineers who design the Infinitis dont ever own or ride in them.

  • Proud owner - 2004 Infiniti G35

This is my weekend / fun car. The car as is was fast but the suspension was a bit too "boaty", but getting stiffer swaybars cured that. Had 1 rattle that was fixed during warranty during 1st year. Other than that, I have good luck with mine. Its such a good looking car too. Yes, suspension is stiff, but its a sports coupe dang it! :) Rear seats best for kids.

  • Acceleration blocked - 2006 Infiniti M45
    By -

Rarely when attempting to accelerate for a stop or slow speed, it gets stuck at 2,000 rpm and 20 mph and will not advance . You must take your foot off the accelerator and reapply slowly, Same with the manual mode. Can be dangerus when changing lanes in heavy traffic. To dealer 3 timers, they say they can not replicate this and it is fine. It is not fine, did this from day one. Some one said a software problem may exist as it is 1st generation software. I think I will trade in on a G35. I really like the M45 but but every time you want to get up and go you hold your breath because there is a chance it wont. Any help appreciated.

  • Not Bad - 2014 Infiniti Q50
    By -

I had a 2012 G37S, so this is a direct comparison. The Q50 isnt bad but its a more refined and watered down G. The build is more solid with tighter fitting exterior joints and more solid interior. My G would creak and pop over any imperfection, this is much more solid of a car with a stiffer structure. The steering is not like the G AT ALL! New steer by wire is HORRIBLE! I have the elect assist and it has more feel but on center isnt great and too light. The car is quieter, but could be better. The run flat tires are prob the culprit. The gas mileage is pretty good, avg 30.9 on 600 mile trip at 65-75 mph. The infotainment system is half baked and needs major work.

  • Good Job Infiniti - 2008 Infiniti G37
    By -

After driving my family and friends crazy over the A5, G37, and 335i I finally bit the bullet and went with my first love. So far it has been a blast. Fun to drive and a real crowd pleaser. I have every option from 4WAS to Tech Pack to Sport Premium etc. Really enjoy starting it and taking off.

  • Sedan after a month - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

Ive had my G35 Sedan for almost a month now. Pretty much every critique that everyone has posted thus far is true (orange lights dim in sunlight, brakes are a little grabby, fuel mileage is 16-17). But those are the only poor things built into the car. The ride is smooth, acceleration is strong. The back seat is spacious and comfortable. Get the premium package for sure. The stereo is worth it, as are the reclining rear seats and auto headlamps, etc. This vehicle is a great compromise car for those of us who like to smoke the guy next to us and yet are still concerned about keeping our passengers comfortable.

  • Brakes are bad! - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

The brakes on this car are a real big problem! You will need to change them every 15,000 miles. In fact there is a class action suit by owners in the States. Stay away buy a Lexus!

  • Soccer Mom Needs More Assistance - 2016 Infiniti QX60
    By -

My QX60 has the tech package with all bells and whistles. The safety features are tops especially with my precious cargo. While I am suppose to be able to listen to my entertainment while the kids have their CD movie going I have not been able to make that happen. So my music is missing when they are in the car. Plus, my height is short so the seat adjustment could have gone another notch toward the roof for me. A cushion would work. But, defeats the look of the QX60 interior and gets in the way of storage when another driver takes over. Also, with the rear seats view to the screens I need to adjust the headrests up to be out of my way. The typical headrest makes my head tilt forward. With a screen in the headrest it can not be turned around for my pleasure to make it straighter on my posture. The GPS I can not delete the total history out of our QX60 from the previous owner. Just thought I would share some items that were not previously mentioned in the reviews to help other customers. The sensor for automatic braking allowing for much distance of the vehicle in front of you can create serious situations when it wants to bring you to a complete stop when turning from a main road into a busy shopping mall. Possible rear end collisions to your car. I turn it off and just drive defensively!
