Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

Terrific acceleration and styling. 225 watt Bose sound is very good. Seats are excellent. Blows away the 330ci in styling and acceleration, but maybe not in overall quality...close enough however that the first two factors make the Infiniti the better buy even before taking price into consideration. Also the 6-disc in-dash cd has random play (not available in the BMW).

  • A beauty thats easy to love - 2003 Infiniti G35

I bought this car for its looks. I saw one (there is no dealer here) and said, "this is it". Ive only owned it a short time, but my experience with the car has become a love affair. The car has become MORE attractive, MORE fun to drive and MORE comfortable to ride in, as I become used to all the controls/buttons, etc. A+ for me.

This is a nice vehicle to own and fun to drive. Great traveling vehicle on long road trips. Good brakes, good handling around turns, very comfortable high speed vehicle. Could use more horsepower.

I purchased the G35 after months of reviewing, analyzing and test driving the Acura TL ,BMW 3XX, I35, Maxima, etc. Almost purchased an I35 but am so glad I went for the G! Was nervous about buying any model in its 1st year but decided on the G after my first test drive. I cant remember a car I have had so much fun driving. Puts the joy into a Ho-Hum commute to work.

  • Nice cruiser but terrible transmission - 2009 Infiniti G37

I traded an 06 Passat for my G three months ago. So far really like the car except for a couple of complaints. The transmission jolts the car when shifting gears most of the time and the quick shift is useless. Hesitates when changing gears and then its like it cant decide which gear to settle into when downshifting. Very annoying and disappointing. Also, cruise control revs the engine suddenly when using the accelerate feature. Personally dont care about the poor gas mileage. Its not that bad and I wasnt expecting too much with this much power.

This is really a fun car to drive. The exterior appearance has drawn a lot of attention from friends that have seen the car. The interior quality is better than reported. I am 100% satisfied with this car so far!

  • My 1st G - 2009 Infiniti G37

This car overall is a great car for its class and price. Its fun to drive. great acceleration, Braking is very good, can be touchy at first but one gets used to it. I had the car for 9 months and put on 30,000 miles my gas mileage averages at 23 mph combo city/highway and I have gotten 26 mph straight highway. I have gotten as low as 10 mph, but then again this is a 330 hp car with AWD and thats what happens when you go full throttle of the line. Gas mileage for this car considering the weight, power, and the AWD, is very good and as expected. If buying this car for fuel economy then you are looking at the wrong car. If youre looking for some driving fun, then this is the car.

  • Best bang for the buck - 2007 Infiniti G35

My wife had great success with an older I30 so I decided to try the G35S. Not disappaointed at all! The car is a blast to drive and I look forward to it everytime I climb in. Compared this to the BMW 535 and although the BMW felt a little better when pushing towards the limits, the extra $20k was too hard to ignore. Also compared the Acura TL but the front wheel drive was a deal killer not to mention the TL did not have the zip or handling. The G did gobble up the OEM tires but that was thanks to my right foot. I enjoyed every bit of it too!

  • Best Value In Mid-sized Luxury - 2000 Infiniti I30
    By -

I love my I30. I have 55,000 miles and the only thing I have had to do (besides oil changes) is replace the tires! The car rides very smoothly and very quiet. There is excellent power from its 227 horse power V6 engine. Emergency handling is very good too! Overall, this is the best value for the money in the mid-size luxury class. Believe me when I say that...I compared Lexus, Acura and the Mercedes C230 before making my I30 purchase.

  • G35 Sooo Much Fun - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

Fit, finish & the solid "feel" is same or superior of product costing more. The driving experience is far superior to vehicles in same price range. For its "class" of competitors there is no comparison. My last two cars were European "G35 target" cars I considered in my buying decision. Im glad I bought the G35.
