Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

I Love to drive my 2004 G35x. My old Infiniti was a 1994 J30 with 123,000 miles. I think that Infiniti is a few steps above Lexus all the way around. My G35x is quality with lots of class. Lexus is just out there as a big Camry that will cost you more money. I will buy another Infiniti.

  • Jaw Droping... WoW... Amazing!! - 2007 Infiniti G35

This car is absolutely fantastic. its fit and Finish are stellar, the 4 wheel active steer is amazing and if your ordering a car, dont skip this option! The handling is stellar, the power of this car is actually dangerous for most people.. I wish it had a way to cut the power in 1/2 for valets and the wife :) If youre looking for the king of performance its either the G35S or the BMW 335i for ($11K more) but I dont see $11K in extra value out of the 335i. The TL is not in the same performance league and the IS350 falls quite short on handling and driver feedback.

I test drove every AWD in this class. btw could not believe the Lexus 250 - the interior looked and felt cheap, and drive wasnt great. I just kept coming back to this G. Love it. Before this I was in an Oldsmobile Alero. gasp. Finally I have a car that can handle my driving. Im in heaven.

  • Best SUV Ive Ever Owned - 2004 Infiniti QX56

I was sold on this SUV simply by its price & overall design & excellent reputation which Infiniti has earned through the years & is right behind Lexus in quality & reliability. The QX56 offers superior power & handling unlike other SUVs in its class.

Ordered and waited 3 months for this car to come in (waited to get the optional spoiler). Almost backed out to order the 2010 model. Winter here now so did not get much driving in before I put car away in storage. However this is a great car: looks great and fun to drive. Cant wait for spring and top down driving. Looked at Lexus IS350c, but could not get excited. Somewhat concerned about reports of the seatbelt not retracking and getting slammed in door and breaking door/seat trim. Need to drive more miles to get fuller experience. Would give it all 10s (other than gas mileage), but there is always room to improve! Hope this helps.

  • Un diplomatic fun! - 2006 Infiniti M45

I have driven an X5, XK8 coupe, Range Rover and a S Type in the past 2 years. I have been HAMPERED with problems with the RR and the XK8 and finally decided to try somthing more reliable upon a freinds recommendation to try the M series. I literally left 5 minutes before signing the for an Audi 6 and thought Id at the very least try this car. I did, I bought it and its really a tremendous car. Did I just jinx myself? Anyway, to date love it. The air conditioned seats! What a treat. Im 35 years old and its the perfect sporty sedan for me. Chris J. Meza

Ive only owned this car for about a month and a half but so far so good. I havent taken any long trips nor have I driven around all day, but its comfy, smooth with power and the Bose sound bangs pretty nice. So like I said so far so good and Ill be back in a couple months to write about how it continues.

The G35 coupe is the finest vehicle Ive ever had the fortune to own. Certainly, there are higher performing or higher luxury vehicles out there. But few cars at this price point combine such ample parts performance, refinement, and inspiring form *and* function. While some cars, it seems, are so “perfect” that they are little more than lifeless, artless appliances devoted only to the task of being faithful, workday conveyances, the G35 hasnt forgotten that a few people in this country actually enjoy driving. The G35 encourages spirited driving and inspires personal attachment by channeling a passionate personality that is greater than the sum of its parts.
