Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • One of a Kind - 2009 Infiniti G37

This car surprised me. I stopped in to test the G and the M35 as well, but was shocked by the superior handling of the G. I drove the 328, A4 and CTS, but this was superior, especially considering its the stock setup. Only 500 miles so I havent tested everything in the NAV pkg yet. Quality construction, handling, steering, quietness, styling and power come for a competition-beating price and make this car a winner. Fuel mileage looks grim, but well see after more tanks.

  • A great car, but somewhat bipolar - 2013 Infiniti M

I frequently love my M37, when the ECU isnt fighting itself it has excellent grunt and acceleration. However, you never know what car you are going to get when you crank it; sometimes it is torquey head snapping acceleration and other times it is a high revving whiner with artificial turbo lag that you have to kick in the rear end to get going and then takes off like a rocketship. I feel this is all due to the software that controls the car and it just isnt right for reliable, spirited driving. I do hope there will be a software upgrade that makes this car perform in a more consistent manner.

  • I love this car! - 1999 Infiniti I30

I have been a Nissan/Infiniti convert since 1995 with the purchase of my Altima. Until now the best car I have ever owned and I had 3 Hondas before that.

  • 3 months later... - 2006 Infiniti G35

I wrote a review for this car after I first purchased it in December 2005. The car continues to perform well but I find myself wanting for more power! I feel that for the money this car is still excellent, however, it should be quicker and faster. There are a lot of cars coming out now that are almost as quick, if not quicker than the G35 coupe for a lot less money and with 4-cylinder engines! Namely the new VW GTI, Dodge Caliber SRT4, Audi A3 S-line, etc. Even Honda Accord coupes with the 6 sp are faster to 60...with 40 less hp and 30 less torque? Doesnt seem right...

  • GREAT VEHICLE - 2004 Infiniti QX56
    By -

Really love my QX.....! Exterior and interior are very nice and also comfortable. Both functional and easy on the eye. As per any large vehicle mileage isnt so great but my last car only got about 17 miles per gallon so 14 from the truck isnt so bad. Only issue I have is a little ear pressure when driving with windows all closed.

  • Not your fathers Infiniti - 2004 Infiniti G35

Ive had my 6 speed manual trans G35 coupe for a little over two months and its GREAT. If you are looking for something practical or sensible do NOT get this car, but if you want something that makes your driving experience a joy this is the car for you. I was ready to get a BMW 325i until I test drove this car.. just pulling out of the dealers lot for the test drive made me laugh out loud. What a rush!

  • Move over 3 Series! - 2009 Infiniti G37
    By -

I was in the market for an entry level luxury sport sedan for 6 months. All I kept hearing was how great the BMW 3 series was. So I test drove it. While a great performer, the interior felt "boring", and the run flat tires were very loud. So I waited a few more months for the G37 to come out. Im very glad I waited. Infiniti was always trying to catch up to the 3 series in terms of performance and styling, and it seems that they finally caught up. To me, it out performs the BMW, with a much more luxurious interior. Plus its got more ponies (330 vs 300). Lets not even mention the $10k I saved by going with the G. This is the car for the driving enthusiast that wants the performance and luxury

  • a BMW with a 50% discount - 2008 Infiniti M45
    By -

I bought this after testing the 550i. outstanding performance. Handles like a sports car but rides like one (19"wheels). Interior is quiet and serene at high speeds. I find myself regularly doing 100-120mph without even feeling it. Exhaust note is sweet. The best low beam headlights in any car Ive driven (the road is evenly carpeted with bright white light) but strangely very lousy high beams. Leg room in the front and back is class leading

  • fun to drive - 2006 Infiniti G35
    By -

the major problem i find with it is the limited cargo space, you cannot fit a golf bag in there, or a big piece of luggage. As far as looks, performance and fun to drive, it has no comparison.

  • infiniti-hard to deal with - 2006 Infiniti G35
    By -

things keep breaking on this car and infiniti does nothing to help. I have had to buy brakes and rotors every 20,000 miles..first there was a recall and they paid for it. 2nd time there was no recall anymore, and somehow there never was one, and i had to pay. actually they told me i was lucky that i was going 20,000 miles cause most people only go 15,000. Infiniti is terrible to deal with when a there is a problem.
