Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Great car but... - 2000 Infiniti G20

Apart from numerous small problems, this has been an excellent car. I wish it had a little more UMPH! This is the only reason Im looking to buy a different car this year. This car should never have been sold without a turbo option. A turbo would rock in this car. Also a lot of rattles and vibrations and rough ride but all around excellent car.

  • 2nd I35, even better - 2004 Infiniti I35

This is my second I35. The first is a 1996. 135k miles with only two minor repairs. It just keeps going. The 2003 is an improvement over the 96. It rides better. It has more power. And if the reliability is anything like the 96, I will have it for a long time. It is a classy car without the price to go with it. The only negative ( and I mean the only) is the turning. It has a wider turn then the 96. A pleasure to drive. I do a lot of pleasure long distance driving. 8 to 11 hours a day on the road. It makes it easy and comfortable.

  • Infiniti QX56--- absolutely awesome! - 2004 Infiniti QX56

Was looking at BMW X5, Hummer, Escalade, and Q56. After driving other 3, I went to Infiniti dealership. Looks of this vehicle on the web cannot compare with the awesome looks of it in real life. Phenomenal luxury with brute good looks. My wife was overwhelmed with the features, looks and performance. Obviously, its new, so well have to see how it holds up. Its an Infiniti, so were expecting a lot in reliability. Makes Escalade look sick in comparison.

  • Awesome! - 2004 Infiniti G35

LOOKS, PERFORMANCE, LUXURY AND FOR WAHT A PRICE...WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT. I MYSELF AM A MUSCLE CAR GURU, BUT WHEN I DROVE THIS CAR, MAN WAS I PLEASED WITH THE POWER IT GAVE OFF. I LOVE ITS EXTERIOR DESIGN AND THE INTERIOR IS JUST SPECTACULAR. I AM NOT EASILY IMPRESSED (ESPECIALLY WITH IMPORTS), BUT THIS CAR REALLY BLEW ME AWAY.

  • Best Car For The Price - 2002 Infiniti I35
    By -

I looked at the comparable Lexus, BMW, and Acura. All great cars, but compared to the I35 they were overpriced and underpowered (except the Acura). It came down to the Acura 3.2 TL Type S and the I35. I chose the I35 for the better interior design, folding rear seats and outstanding Infiniti service.

  • car of the year - 2007 Infiniti G35

It is a no brainer. Research and test drive the Lexus, BMW, Mercedes etc. Compare their options, price and driving experience with the Infiniti G35. BMW and Mercedes charge lots more for their cars and they have fewer features (unless you want to pay even more money to them). The BMW and Mercedes only have a single CD player and they have no hard drive record feature like the Infiniti. Infiniti is the clear choice this year. I have driven mine for 5000 miles now and it is absolute perfection. I have driven it hard through corners and up to 145 mph. The car handles perfectly under all conditions. You cannot compare the other cars and the price without saying that Infiniti is the best of all

  • worth every penny - 2006 Infiniti G35

I owned a 2001 BMW 330i before this vehicle and it was as beautiful as it was fun to drive, but the cost to repair was obscene. I purchased the 2006 G35x four years ago - used with 30k miles. It now has 142k miles and I have spent $0 on repair bills. It still runs, drives and looks practically new. I do not baby the car, I drive it hard, in fact I beat on it regularly - I commute the DC beltway and its easy to get carried away. Its fast and handles great. A few other reviewers have noted that it is not a luxury car. I would say that it is. Maybe not as luxurious as BMW or Mercedes but pretty close and much less cost up front and along the way. Unless you need the ego stroke...

    Great Car

  • G37! - 2009 Infiniti G37
    By -

Coming from a 06 G35 6MT sedan (w/ sport and premium) - I thought I would miss the VLSD and 6MT. The 7AT and VQ37VHR more than make up for it. This engine is more powerful and more refined. The power band is excellent, and power is always ready. I love being in 7th gear, and doing 2600 rpm at 80mph - averaging over 29MPG. The cabin is quieter over the G35, and feels roomier. My sun shade from the G35 fits on the G37, BONUS!! I was looking at the ISF, C63, G8 GXP, and 330. I wanted a sporty sedan that wasnt too big. The e55 would have been too big. The G37 gave me everything I wanted, at a wonderful price.
