Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Great family-friendly luxury sports car - 2008 Infiniti G35

I needed a reliable, sporty, family-friendly car to replace my Audi S4 (which I loved), from a local dealership, and had ruled out the repair-prone German imports, at least for this purchase cycle. This car fits the bill. Reliable. Stylish. Excellent performer. Unbeatable technology. Great buying and dealership experience. Highly recommended.

  • Comfortable, reliable, good performance - 2000 Infiniti I30

I have owned this vehicle for 3 years, with only a oxygen sensor replacement performed outside of the regular service intervals. The vehicle is perhaps the most comfortable car I have owned out of the 30 years I have driven - quiet, compliant suspension, perfect climate control and not too soft or firm seats. Engine performance and economy is exceptional for a 3.0 liter V6. Stereo performance is oustanding. I find the styling to be bland, but this is forgivable in a car that has to be one of the best values on the road. The fact that dealer service lives up to its reputation is frosting on the cake.

  • Sweeter than Yoohoo - 2003 Infiniti G35

This is an impressive ride. The handling is crisp and responsive...a great feature when you have to play "dodge them potholes". The exhaust tone is interesting. Ive not had any problems with this beauty. Cant think of a better car in this price range.

  • Met My Expectations - 2003 Infiniti G35

Bought my coupe two weeks ago strictly as "Daddys fun car" and for me it provides an excellent combination of true sport and function. I can drive it alone and when necessary include the kids which at age 8 and 12 fit fine in the back seat. The engine tone is sweet and there is power on demand at any speed. It beakons to be driven and visually appreciated and I give it high marks on both. Though the interior has quite a bit of plastic the layout is visually attractive and a cut above what youll find from the competiton. All in all I made the right choice for what I wanted.

  • JUST SUPERB...best lrge luxury SUV! - 2011 Infiniti QX56
    By -

First time owning an infiniti. I tried all the large luxury SUVs (with over a day of driving each prior to my decision). I can honestly say the QX is THE BEST out there, and for the money- its an incredible deal. -Not top heavy like the lexus -Not like driving an unresponsive, boat-like piece of fluff like the escalade/ yukon/ suburban. -Much cheaper than the lrge comparable mercedes SUV and even nicer/sleeker interior -I was nervous- going from a sporty bimmer to this yet, I have never looked back!! If your in the market for a lrge luxury SUV with incredible style, yet one that has enough brawn to pull your boat, or horse trailer or whatever- LOOK NO FURTHER.

  • Loss of Value - 2005 Infiniti Q45
    By -

This is a great car, but I would recommend that all buyers interested in Infinitis first look at the tradein values before buying. My Q45 was $64K when purchased and is now valued at less than $30K! Infinitis, for some reason, sink like rocks. No matter the condition, mileage, etc, they lose value much faster than their competitors. Check Edmunds and Blue Book before buying... Caveat Emptor!

  • Great Value for the $ - Sport & Luxury! - 2008 Infiniti G37
    By -

I did a great deal of research, and a number of test drives of Acura, Lexus, BMW, etc. before I finally decided to get my Infiniti. For me, it came down to the Lexus IS350, BMW 335i & Acura TL-S. I simply could not justify the extra $$ for the Bimmer considering what the Infiniti offered (great quality, comparable sportiness, for less money). I have not had the car long, but have already recd compliments on it. After all, isnt that partly why we get these kinds of cars to begin with - to turn heads?!
