Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Great car at 140,000! - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

Purchased my one owner 2003, silver on black, 6-speed, with sport suspension in December 08. Flew to Ohio to check it out and was sold. Had 113,000 when purchased and now 138,000 1 1/2 years later. Only maintenance performed are oil changes/brakes,rotors,tires. Most needed replacing when purchased for 8,300 and valued around 10,500 at the time. The acceleration is much stronger than my mothers 03 Acura TL. Also the RWD makes for better handling in dry conditions, and in rain is not bad compared to the Acura. Dont bother taking out in snow. The clutch is original and still feels sporty as if it were new. However, when it rains the moisture causes the clutch to make unpleasant squeeks.

  • Amazing SUV! - 2008 Infiniti QX56

I compared every SUV out there with a third row and this one gives you the most luxuries/technology for your dollar. We also looked at the Mercedes GL, Escalade ESV, Lexus LX 570 and the Navigator. This car has the whole package! If you want a vehicle with a third row that you use a lot this car is the best of what is out there. If a third row is not important it still is the best of what is out there.

  • EX35 - 2012 Infiniti EX

Bought the 2012 EX35 used. I wanted something fun to drive and my wife wanted something with some utility. I drove all the SUVs and crossovers. All of the others had more utility and less fun. I use the fun every day. I have a pick up truck for utility. Another reviewer mentioned tiny wheels and rattles. The stock 18" rims fill up the wheel wells and this is one of the most solid cars I have ever owned.

  • Ive been waiting for this......... - 2003 Infiniti G35

I just picked up my 2003 Infiniti G35 Sedan, and I love it. Ive been waiting for the dealerships to relax a little on the cost. In fact, I had to drive about 200 miles to save myself about $1500. This thing is LOADED!! Every option in the book. Black on black, and SWEET. Much more pick-up than my 2000 Chrysler 300M, which I gladly will be turning in on a lease in about a month. I know Ive only had my new baby for about six hours, but Im looking forward to many, many hours of zipping in and out of traffic, and probably many speeding tickets. Well worth it.....for now!

  • Performance+Reliabillty/Cost=Value - 2003 Infiniti G35

For about the same price as a stodgy Acura 3.2CL Type S you could own the least expensive supercar ever. 280 HP/270 ft/lb. of torque across the entire RPM band and you got your self a compressed bladder yearning to relieve itself. For you neophites out there DONT DEFEAT THE TRACTION CONTROL, YOU WILL BUY THE FARM!!!

  • BMWs nighmare has arrived - 2006 Infiniti G35
    By -

When I was 2 months shy of turning my leased BMW I didnt even think about looking elsewhere, since it was my 3rd 3-series in a row and I loved it. However, the neighboor of mine had just purchased the G35 asked if Id like to test drive a real muscle car... Yeah, right ??? Boy, was I surprised to admit it seemed at least twice as powerful as my BMW was. Well, I figured the all new 330 will prove me wrong. Unfortunately, it didnt :((( Not to mentioned the not-so-good- looking shape lots of folks are complaining about this time around. As before handled corners well, but didnt come even close to the overall performance of the G35. Hate to admit by my loyaltys been stolen by Infinity !!!

  • Dream Machine - 2007 Infiniti G35
    By -

I did tons of research on competing cars from BMW, Lexus, etc. None matched the G35 for looks, reliability, and quality for the price. The car is a blast to drive and very comfortable on long trips. Edmunds Consumers and Editors favorite coupe says it all. Granted, gas mileage suffers, but the power of the engine is stunning - when you punch it, hang on, and I mean, hang on tight. One more thing - it gets lots of attention. Want to get noticed? Buy this car!

  • A great car - 2003 Infiniti M45
    By -

I actually look for excuses to drive this car. Awesome power, unique looks, and it feels rock solid. The car gets a lot of looks. People dont know what it is. It looks like some exotic, exclusive, expensive import(which it is, except for expensive). The car really hauls. I totally dusted an Audi A6 2.7 Turbo yesterday. Just ran away from him. The guy looked really demoralized. He probably went back to the Audi dealership today to complain that his car wasnt running right. Anyway, the M45 is great. I used to have a 2000 Lincoln LS. It was a good car, but the M45 outshines it. Im very pleased with my choice.

  • A Blast to Drive - 2008 Infiniti G37

I love this vehicle! It performs as well as a 3 Series BMW, without the extra increase in price that the BMW has. It looks much better than the BMW too! I got the 6MT and the engine feels like it just can keep going with no problem. Beautiful finish and top-notch quality of materials round out an awesome package. My only little quibbles are the lack of more storage space in the center console, and the somewhat thirsty engine coupled with the price of Supreme Unleaded. I was prepared for the fuel economy, so that was not a major problem for me. I add it here as a caution to gas concerned folks. Again for me the major problem is the center console. Otherwise A+++ rating for performance/luxury.

  • A Beautiful Machine - 2014 Infiniti Q50

Ive had my car for 1 month now, and I am very impressed. The power and handling is excellent. The black on black looks sleek and mean. The interior quality is top notch, and its full of nice options. Yes, the computer takes a bit of time to power up, but its no big deal. You still have immediate access to the back-up camera, climate controls, and radio controls via the steering wheel buttons. Stop whining, people, and just enjoy driving this machine. Not a single problem with this car yet. I did not get the navigation, no need for it. And I dont know why people are complaining about the run flat tires. The tires are fine. This car is simply fun to drive!
