Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Great G35 - 2004 Infiniti G35

I have only had my car for 3 months but it has preformed very well so far and I expect it to continue. I have had no problems to date. The only negative thing I can say is that the passenger seat back rattles in certain positions with no one sitting in it. The rattle can be eliminated by changing position. The mileage for a 1000 mile trip was 25.5 mpg with just 1500 miles on the odometer.

  • Great Sport Sedan Car - 2004 Infiniti G35

I did a lot of research b/f choosing the G35. I believe for the money and the class it is in, it is the best. The overall design of the car is very nice. The interior could have been done better. Really the only complaint I have w/ the interior is that it scratches easily, other than that I like it. The performance of the car is outstanding. I easily make 35mph curves at 60-70 and have done higher. It corners great. The engine itself seems good also. It seems to be running better now w/about 10000 miles on it. The miles per gallon have been slowly increasing also. Overall this is a great car that I enjoy immensely.

  • Love the fancy features! - 2015 Infiniti QX60

I drove the same minivan for the past 10 years, so maybe Im easily impressed - but the bells and whistles are fantastic! In some ways, its almost like a self driving car. It alerts you when you get too close to someone, and the auto braking is amazing. There is no excuse if I ever rear-end someone! The parking assist with the birds eye view is fantastic. Lots of space in the third row for passengers, but not much cargo space when the seats are full. The gas mileage is not what I expected - fluctuates so far (under 1000 miles on the car) between about 18-22. Right now it says 20.3 average; which is a long way from the 26 advertised. I am driving in the regular mode, I felt the Eco mode, where you can probably get 26 mpg, was very sluggish. I was committed to buying a hybrid and there are very few that seat 7. This was my favorite by far, and Im very happy with my purchase.

  • G35 - six month review - 2003 Infiniti G35

I was getting to know my Lincoln Service Rep too well, so I started to look for a comfortable sedan with great reliability. I had 2 finalists in a Toyota Avalon and a G35. After one test drive, I fell in love with a leftover 03 Pearl White G35 sedan and decided that it would be a whole lot more fun at about the same price. The Toyota seemed like a car for an alte kake by comparison. At age 55 I decided that fun was a major criterion, even if I dont use it to its full potential. The performance was thrilling, the amenities were all inclusive, and its a great conversation piece as many, many people stop and ask me about it all very impressed with its looks.

  • Great Car - 2007 Infiniti G35

The car is a lot of fun to drive. Hit the gas and the car moves. I love the sound of the engine as the RMPs climb. The technology is integrated very well. I have all the packages and it is going to take awhile to get up to speed on all the cars capabilities. The road feel is excellent, much better than the comparable Lexus. The back seat area could use more room but my teenage boys love riding in the car so much they dont mind the lack of foot space. This car replaced by Audi A6 and is much more fun to drive. I liked the all wheel drive of the Audi so much I go it on the G35 as well. Need to wait for some snow to see how it does.

  • I got mine almost for free - 2002 Infiniti G20
    By -

Got 2002 loaded, paid cash $10,500 from auto auction. The cars sticks like glue to the road. A bigger engine will upset the weight dist. and ruin the handling, on the alpine twist only BMWs Ms, WRXs or MP3s will out perform.

  • Beats everything out there... - 2003 Infiniti M45
    By -

When I read some of the "professional" naysayer reviews, I have to laugh. They obviously know nothing about real-world ownership. I shopped around, and while there are plenty of great cars out there (BMW 540, Lexus LS/GS 430, etc.), this one undercuts them in price- big time. Ive gotten so many compliments on its exterior, but when I take my friends for a ride, theyre all blown away. This car could easily cost $5K more based on performance alone. I was initially concerned about the turning radius, but its actually been just fine for me.

  • What happens when you floor it?! - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

Since Im a bit paranoid about disobeying the rules regarding redlining the car before the "breaking- in" period has finished, Ive forced myself to settle with far greater speed than the BMW 325, Audi A4, and countless others. The interior acts as if it has grown around the driver. Also, the seat... its like an old baseball glove; it just fits.

  • Acura/BMW/MBenz Crusher - 2005 Infiniti G35
    By -

Take it from me, do not waste your valuable time (unless you absolutely must) with test driving the BMW, the Acura or the Benz. You will be instantly sold on the G35. I drove them all none of the others could even come close to the class-dominating performance, head-turning styling, amenities, and best overall value for your dollar. Ive had my G for 5 months now and have LOVED every second of it. I know you will too!!! This car is at its best when cruising long highway miles - just set the cruise and go.
