Make Overview:

Infiniti is an upscale automaker from Japan. Though most of its products are related to those sold by parent company Nissan, Infiniti looks to achieve a premium status by infusing its cars and SUVs with spirited performance and additional luxury content.

The brand was launched for the 1990 model year. Its purpose back then, as it is now, was to create premium vehicles for America that wouldn't have otherwise fit in with Nissan's more mainstream image. This was the same tactic Honda used for the creation of Acura, and Toyota for Lexus. In its first full year, Infiniti started out with two vehicles, the Q45 sedan and the M30 coupe and convertible. The compact, entry-level G20 was introduced soon after.

As the 1990s moved along, Infiniti slowly added more vehicles to its lineup. The Q45 luxury sport sedan found its market. The car's 278-horsepower V8 was class-leading in its day. On top of that, the Q45 offered cutting-edge technology such as an active suspension system. By the late '90s Infiniti had rolled out the QX4, an SUV based on the Pathfinder. The sport-ute's truck platform gave it a leg up in off-road performance relative to competing car-based SUVs.

Although Infiniti's sales grew steadily, the marque still fell short of both Lexus and Acura in terms of popularity. The early 2000s saw Infiniti making a determined effort to sharpen its focus and upgrade its products. But it was the introduction of the entry-level, midsize G35 in 2003 that finally gave Infiniti the boost and identity direction it sorely needed. Based on the same platform underpinning the Nissan 350Z, the G35 coupe and sedan met with immediate sales success. The FX35/FX45 soon followed -- a crossover SUV that provided spirited acceleration and sports-car handling with the utility of a wagon.

Today, Infiniti's lineup has expanded to include the G (now a sedan, coupe and convertible) and FX as well as the midsize M sedan, the EX small crossover SUV, the JX midsize crossover SUV and the QX large SUV. Infiniti has also introduced the M Hybrid sedan, its first hybrid vehicle. No matter the model, shoppers will find Infiniti's latest vehicles to be focused on luxury, sport, quality and value.

  • Glad I bought the G37 - 2011 Infiniti G Sedan

Ive been looking at cars off and on for a few months and the G37, Volvo S60, Maxima, and Genesis were on the list. Genesis was too large and I wasnt sold on the CVT in the Maxima. After driving the S60 and G37 back-to-back, I went with the G with the Premium package. Handling was a little sharper than the S60 and power is effortless. Plenty of features. The car is fun to drive. The ride is firm and on the sporty side, so if you want a softer ride, look at a Lexus. A G wants to be driven but will provide plenty of creature comforts at the same time.

  • 2005 QX56 review - 2005 Infiniti QX56

Vehicle is excellent. Very smooth on the road and very responsive around town. Really like the rear back-up camera. It is something all cars should have. Around town gas mileage is a little slim, but road milage is fine. Liked the way the rear two rows of seats fold away. Having owned three Lexuses before this purchase, Im very impressed with Infiniti. This car is bigger than the Lexus 470 and is better quality than the Cadillac Escalade

  • I35 is a deal - 2002 Infiniti I35

Had my I35 for 3 weeks. Its a great car. Excellent combination of luxury, performance and value, with roomy interior and big trunk. Best part is price. Its loaded at $30k. Cars like the Volvo S60, Audi A6, Toyota Avalon, Lexus ES300, look good in ads at $399 leases, etc., but when you add the options to these cars needed to match the I35, the I35 wins by several grand.

  • Wolf in Sheeps Clothing - Real bargain - 2004 Infiniti G35
    By -

Many reviewers have called the G35s simple, conservative lines boring. This Clark Kent / Superman dual personality has infinite appeal to me. The G35 has clean, classic European teutonic lines with Japanese utilitarian overtones. Its appearance carries simple, understated elegance among the crowd of cars of its class. But more important is the wolf in sheeps clothing that appears when its driven. This car is just plain fun to drive, responding quickly to every demand with appropriate handling reflexes and accelerator responsive steering. It clearly outaccelerates almost every car in its class and returns to zero with alacrity.

  • 2005 Infinity G35 Sedan - 2005 Infiniti G35
    By -

The G35 has great styling, excellent build quality and stunning performance. I am very pleased to have purchased this vehicle nearly two years after the fact. Compared to the equivalent cars made by Lexus and Acura it remains a real bargain. The only temptation to trade my 2005 G35 would be to buy the 2007 G35 Sedan.

  • 2002 I35 - 2002 Infiniti I35

Have had no problems at all. The car is very quick and also comfortable. Gas mileage is good for the size of the engine. Great features for the money.

  • Simply Awesome - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

Lookout BMW, here comes Infiniti. This car is simply awesome. The Germans will have a very hard time justifying their absurd pricices going forward. The car drives like a dream, handles like it is on rails and comes with Infinti service -- a difficult combination to beat.

  • Guilty - 2003 Infiniti G35
    By -

I confess to a feeling of guilt now that I own this car, rather like "do I deserve an automobile this nice?" not to mention the excitement of pushing it. I intend to keep my shameful secret but you might recognize me by my grin. I almost want to keep this car a secret like a kid that wont share. It is a very fine CAR!
